Since their formation in 1973, Journey has become one of the most recognized rock bands to come out of the US. Over more than 4 decades, they’ve released 15 studio albums and sold more than 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups of all time. Originally a progressive rock band, Journey reworked their sound to embrace pop-style arrangements, winning new fans with powerful hits like “Any Way You Want It,” “Who’s Crying Now,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Though the group took a hiatus beginning in 1987, they came back together in the mid-90s and have been performing ever since. Journey was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, with inductees including current band members Neal Schon, Ross Valory, and Jonathan Cain, as well as former members Steve Perry, Gregg Rolie, Aynsley Dunbar, and Steve Smith. Journey History & Tours

Under Santana manager Herbie Herbert, Journey came together in San Francisco in 1973, with original members Schon, Rolie, and Valory, plus George Tickner and Prairie Prince. Initially focusing on a distinct jazz fusion style, the band’s first 3 albums didn’t perform well, and they soon brought on Steve Perry as their new lead singer and revamped their style to a more mainstream sound. They saw their first real success with the release of their next 3 studio albums, Infinity, Evolution, and Departure, off of which hits like “Wheel in the Sky,” “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin,” and “Any Way You Want It” earned them an entirely new fan base. They reached the height of their popularity in the early 1980s with the release of Escape, their most successful album to date. Singles like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Open Arms” quickly became anthems of the decade, and they went on to see more commercial success with songs such as “Separate Worlds” and “Faithfully.”

In 1987, the band decided to take some time off, and the individual members pursued solo careers. But in 1995, they came back together, released the single “When You Love a Woman,” and earned their very first Grammy nomination. In 1998, they replaced Steve Perry with Steve Augeri, who stayed with the band until 2006, when he left due to chronic throat issues. The following year, Cain and Schon began searching for a new lead singer on YouTube, eventually hiring Arnel Pineda who has been with the band ever since. Revelation, the band’s first album with Pineda, stayed in the Billboard top 20 for 6 solid weeks and eventually went platinum. With a renewed enthusiasm in their fan base, Journey has since become of the top-grossing concert tours. Catch them in 2018 as they hit the road with iconic English rock band Def Leppard in North American cities such as Cleveland, Toronto, New York, Nashville, and Vancouver.
