Sugar Bowl Ticket Information

The Sugar Bowl is an annual college football game played in New Orleans. The Sugar Bowl has been played every year since 1935 and is tied with the Orange Bowl as one of the oldest bowl games in the country. The game has been played at the Superdome since 1975. The Sugar Bowl has a longstanding, but not exclusive, relationship with the Southeastern Conference. In 2012, the game between the Michigan Wolverines and Virginia Tech Hokies was the first time since 2000 and only sixth since World War II, to feature two non-SEC teams. As a member of the Bowl Championship Series, the Sugar Bowl hosted the BCS National Championship twice, in 2000 and 2004.

Sugar Bowl History

It's no surprise the SEC's elite are at the top of the leaderboard in Sugar Bowl appearances. The Alabama Crimson Tide lead the way with most appearances with 16 all time. They've won the bowl nine times. The LSU Tiger are not far behind with 13 appearances and six Sugar Bowl victories. Altogether, an SEC team has played in the Sugar Bowl 80 times and winning 41 of those.

Sugar Bowl Records

The Sugar Bowl has been some high scoring and record-setting play. In 1997, in a matchup between the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles the Gators put up 52 points. In 2003, Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliot would rush for 230 yards in a single game.
