Overview

This 12 day tour combines the best of Armenia and Georgia, two very different but equally rewarding countries. In both, you’ll discover centuries-old monasteries in breathtaking locations, fascinating museums, characterful cities and of course a landscape that’s as beautiful as it is varied. Taste Armenian brandy, learn how to bake lavash, explore underground cave cities, luxuriate in a thermal bath and visit a chaotic animal bazaar.

Throughout, you’ll receive a typically warm Caucasus welcome in a region where hospitality means so much more than just polite and efficient service.

Garni and Geghard are usually combined into one excursion as they are geographically close together; however, in style they couldn’t be more different. Garni is the more unusual, an Ionic Greco-Roman pagan temple initially constructed in the 1st century AD but restored in the 1970s after a 17th century earthquake left it in ruins.
The Monastery of Geghard
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Geghard is a UNESCO-listed monastery which was founded by Gregory the Illuminator in the 4th century. Noravank Monastery’s location if anything is even more fantastic. Approach along a narrow canyon and this religious complex appears, famed for its carvings of Jesus with Peter and Paul.
