Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

This is the first stop of the trip. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in Oman and one of the largest in the world. The mosque is named after the late sultan of Oman - Sultan Qaboos. You can visit the mosque from inside in the morning except on Friday. The dress code needs to be followed (full length trousers, shirt covering the arm and a head scarf for the ladies).

At the heart of Old Muscat, is Al Alam Palace (translated as flag palace), is the most important of all royal residences of the Sultan. The palace, built in 1972, is a flamboyant example of contemporary Islamic design. The palace is not open to public but you can get a good view of the facade from the iron gates in the front.
