What you can expect

Frequently rated as one of the world's top dive sites, the depths of the Silfra fissure are truly a sight to behold.

Our journey begins at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you’ll find the Silfra Fissure, created by the movement of tectonic plates - this is where the North American & Eurasian plates meet and diverge at a rate of ~2cm per year. The water within Silfra is nothing short of mesmerizing: crystal clear, vibrantly blue, and sourced from the Langjökull glacier, located approximately 50 kilometers away.

Your expert guide outfits you with the necessary gear - a mask, flippers, undersuit, drysuit, and gloves that will keep you warm in the glacial water. As you prepare for your snorkeling experience, take in the geological marvels that have shaped Iceland's natural beauty and learn about the incredible tectonic forces that created this fissure between the North American and Eurasian continents. The glacial waters that have been filtering through volcanic rock for 100 to 200 years. As you enter the water, feel the texture of the lava rocks and connect with the raw power and uniqueness of Icelandic nature. Silfra’s remarkable visibility extends up to an astonishing 150 meters, allowing you to witness its underwater wonders in unparalleled clarity.

This is the only place in the world where you can snorkel directly in the crack between two tectonic plates, making it a unique and fascinating location for geology enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
