Day 1: Fez to Merzouga via Midelt
We'll start our journey in the morning from Fez and head towards Merzouga, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop will be in the charming town of Ifrane, often referred to as “Little Switzerland” for its European architecture and scenic beauty. Continuing our drive, we'll pass through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can encounter friendly Barbary macaque monkeys. After lunch in Midelt, known for its apple orchards, we'll traverse the Ziz Valley with its lush palm groves and impressive gorges. As we approach Merzouga, we'll meet our camel caravan and embark on an unforgettable camel trek into the Sahara Desert. We'll witness the breathtaking sunset over the dunes before arriving at our desert camp. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the night in a cozy desert camp, surrounded by the tranquility of the desert.
Day 2: Merzouga to Ouarzazate via Todra Gorge
Wake up early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, we'll depart from Merzouga and continue our journey towards Ouarzazate. We'll pass through the captivating Todra Gorge, a dramatic canyon known for its towering cliffs and picturesque landscapes. Take a leisurely walk along the river and soak in the beauty of this natural wonder. From there, we'll continue our drive through the rugged and scenic landscapes of the Dadès Valley, famous for its stunning rock formations. As we reach Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco,” we'll visit the renowned Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a Unesco World Heritage site that has served as a backdrop for many famous films. Enjoy an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 3: Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Atlas Mountains
On our final day, we'll leave Ouarzazate and make our way to Marrakech. We'll drive through the majestic Atlas Mountains, crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, which reaches an elevation of 2,260 meters (7,410 feet). Along the way, we'll pass by breathtaking landscapes, traditional Berber villages, and panoramic viewpoints. We'll make stops to appreciate the stunning scenery and capture memorable photographs. As we descend from the mountains, we'll arrive in vibrant Marrakech in the afternoon. Our journey concludes as we drop you off at your preferred location in Marrakech, marking the end of an incredible desert and Ouarzazate adventure.
