Overview

Split is situated on a peninsula and surrounded by historical towns and settlements. We shall take a walk through the 4th-century Diocletian's Palace and its ancient Cellars, the Peristyle, Roman temples (today Christian ones) – the Cathedral and the Baptistery, and then the famous Golden Gate.
After a sightseeing tour of the town of Split and some free time for individual exploring, we start our bus ride towards Trogir.
Trogir is a small town under the cultural protection of UNESCO, which arose from the ancient Tragurion and is full of buildings and monuments testifying to its rich history. There stands the Cathedral with its famous portal made by the well-known local master Radovan, the City Loggia from the 15th century, the Cipiko palace, the Town Hall, and the Benedictine monastery from the year 1064, where a Greek relief is kept representing Kairos (the God of auspicious moment).
After sightseeing, free time for lunch.

The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace (Pass by)
A monumental court, the Peristyle, formed the northern access to the imperial apartments in front of the Vestibule. It also gave access to Diocletian's mausoleum on the east (today the Cathedral of Saint Domnius) and to three temples on the west (two of which are now lost, with the third, originally being the temple of Jupiter, becoming a baptistery). There is also a temple just to the west of the Peristyle called The Temple of Aesculapius, which has a semi-cylindrical roof built of stone blocks, which did not leak until the 1940s when it was covered with a lead roof. The temple was recently restored.
Cathedral of Saint Domnius (Pass by)
The cathedral is the seat of the Archdiocese of Split-Makarska, headed by Archbishop Marin Barišić. The Cathedral of St. Domnius is a complex of a church, formed from an Imperial Roman mausoleum, with a bell tower; strictly the church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and the bell tower to Saint Domnius. Together they form the Cathedral of St. Domnius. The Cathedral of Saint Domnius consecrated at the turn of the 7th century AD, is regarded as the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world that remains in use in its original structure, without near-complete renovation at a later date (though the bell tower dates from the 12th century). The structure itself, built in AD 305 as the Mausoleum of Diocletian, is the second oldest structure used by any Christian Cathedral.
The Golden Gate (Pass by)
The northern half of the palace, divided into two parts by the main north-south street (cardo) leading from the Golden Gate (Porta aurea) to the Peristyle, is less well preserved. It is usually supposed that each part was a residential complex housing soldiers, servants, and possibly some other facilities.

Palace Cipiko (Pass by)
The palace of the Trogir Ćipiko family is located opposite the Trogir Cathedral. The palace itself is a complex of several buildings, joined over time into a single whole. The oldest walls date from the early Middle Ages, and the largest part of the complex was created in the 13th century. century. The palace experienced the most radical changes in the 15th century. century, in the era of the humanist, warrior and writer Koriolan Ćipik, who engaged the then most prominent artists Nikola Florentinec, Andrija Alešija and Ivan Duknović for its restoration.
Loggia - Doorway (Pass by)
The Trogir Loggia and Clock Tower are prominent sites in the medieval city of Trogir in Croatia. Built in the 15th century, Trogir Loggia and Clock Tower are located on Trogir Square. The loggia features reliefs that were made by Nikola Firentinac and Ivan Mestrovic. Attached to the loggia is a Clock Tower which has a light blue-colored clock dial. This tower was previously attached to the Church of St. Sebastian. Both these structures only add to the rich heritage of Trogir.
The St. Lawrence Cathedral and Bell Tower (Pass by)
The Cathedral of St. Lawrence is a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica constructed in Romanesque-Gothic in Trogir, Croatia. Since its construction lasted several centuries, it illustrates all the styles that succeeded one another in Dalmatia. It serves now as the most imposing monument in the city of Trogir.
