Great hotel - excellent locationPosted Nov 17, 2014
Stayed for 2 nights. Hotel is very centrally located - just a few block away from the Acropolis museum and right across from the Zeus temple. The room are updated and very clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Great location and views of AcropolosPosted Nov 16, 2014
Pros: Location and ease of dining in restaurant on roof top that had views of the entire city.
Cons: Elevators are very small accommodating two-three people.
Location: Within walking distance of sites, shopping, and restaurants.
We enjoyed our one night stay that had a beautiful view of the city and Acropolis. We left too early to enjoy breakfast. Room had balcony but we did not leave door open because of traffics noise. There were no problems sleeping and bed was comfortable. We would stay again if in the area,

Excellent hotel and locationPosted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: Small, friendly and clean
Cons: lighting in roof top restaurant a little too bright. - however view of Acropolis while you eat is stunning.
Location: around the corner from the Acropolis, temple of Zeus across the street. First stadium for Olympics minutes away. Plaka two streets away.
Third time at this hotel and found it just as enjoyable stay - very clean - friendly staff. Location cannot be beat for touring on your own.

Unassuming outside, great inside.Posted Nov 12, 2014
Location: Location is hard to beat. Opposite the Pillars of Hercules, 100 metres to Hadrian's Gate, 500 metres to entrance of the Acropolis compound and Museum
Hotel is very unassuming from the outside, but great inside. Modern, with good sized rooms and excellent fittings. Service was friendly and efficient but lowkey. Rooftop resturant has the best views in Athens of the Pillar of Hercules in one direction and beautiful views of Acropolis in the other - along with excellent food.

Great views from roof.Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: The view from the roof garden restaurant and the area.
Cons: Size of the room offered for 2 people. Way to small when you have luggage.
Location: Location was great, easy walking distance to many things to see and do.
Hotel room was small for 2 people with luggage. Only one chair. TV only had news and sports which just kept repeating all day with same "news". Restaurant was good... food, staff and view.

Really nice hotel near the historic ancient centrePosted Nov 9, 2014
Lovely big room on the 7th floor with huge balcony overlooking the Temple of Zeus on one side and a great view of the Acropolic and Parthenon on the other. Excellent friendly staff. Good food in the restaurant on the roof, although limited menu. Will definitely go back here next time I visit.

Nice Hotel Close to Major AttractionsPosted Nov 8, 2014
Cons: Include Internet in the room price.
The Athens Gate Hotel is very well situated to major Athens attractions. Across the street from Zeus Temple, a 10 minute walk to the Acropolis Museum, 10 minutes to the Acropolis entrance, 15/20 minutes to the Agora and 20 minutes to Parliament for the changing of the guard. Also 10 minutes to the Playka area - plenty of eateries, souvenirs etc. YMMV. The rooms are average size but very clean. The bathroom has all the necessary toiletries. The restaurant/breakfast room is on the 8th floor and has a fantastic view of the Acropolis and the Temple. Be sure to visit at night to get some really nice night photos of the Acropolis. Free internet in the dinning area and downstairs in the lobby area. You will be charged for it in your rooms though, the only negative in my book. All in all a really nice place to stay in Athens. If you are a light sleeper try to get a room in the back since the rooms facing the street can be noisy at night. Enjoy Athens, we will be back!

Location is everything!Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Location, location and location! and rooftop restaurant with stunning view of the Acropolis
Cons: The mattresses & pillows - too firm/hard.
Location: Fabulous location for museums, shopping and dining - and of course the Acropolis.
Excellent location for walking to the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum, and to interesting shopping and great dining (casual or fine Greek dining) behind the hotel in the Plaka area.
