Pretty shabby

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: Good location right on York Road, easy in and out
Cons: The room smelled stale and musty, and the elevators and hallways need some maintenance.
Location: The location is great for the Maryland State Fair Grounds, and lots of restaurants and attractions on York Road. Close to I-83.
The room was musty smelling, and the hallways looked shabby. I was awakened in the middle of the night by a man fighting with someone on his cell phone for two hours. I did not alert the hotel staff to this, because I didn't want them to have to get involved, so I really can't hold them responsible. But I don't think I would stay there again.

Being Treated like Royalty!

Posted Jun 14, 2015
Cons: A pool addition?
Location: Perfectly situated just a couple miles from the wedding venue! Such a beautiful area, but the traffic was a little daunting at times!
The hotel was in such a convenient location to the wedding venue. But, beyond that, this hotel had the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever experienced!! If even the smallest thing was needed, just pick up the phone or say the word, and the staff come running to make things so pleasant! I was running a bit late for the breakfast on the first morning. As I was filling up coffee cups, staff came scrambling over to offer their assistance, even bringing food back out to me to take up to the room, which was offered to be taken up for me!! The room was clean, plenty of towels and more at our disposal, and hooking up to the wi-fi was fast and easy! I would have rated the hotel 5, but we were hoping to jump into a pool on the last morning of our stay, but discovered that was one amenity they did not have. For the cost and our amazing treatment, I highly recommend this hotel to everyone needing an enjoyable stay in this area!

Noisy and Worn

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: Breakfast was nice.
Cons: Attention to detail by staff. Remove trash and linens from hallways. Looked like housekeepers just left for the day and failed to finished job.
Location: Close to state park and wine ^ food fest, as well as nice shopping mall.
Front desk persons screwed up my reservation/room assignment. Got someone else's checkout sheet (from front desk vs. under the door). Front desk applied MY discount to someone else...poor attention to detail. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Room was cramped. Prior days trash and bed linens left in large bags in hallways, obstructing passage and looking unsightly. Hotel is right at busy traffic light intersection. Lots of traffic noise, horn honking, etc.

Pros: Clean, convienent.

The N.2 HVAC system: too hot, too cold, too noisy. The scrambled eggs were dead cold.

Holiday Inn Surprise

I was pleasingly surprised. This was a very nice Holiday Inn. Far more than what I expected. The rooms are newly renovated and extremely nice. The staff were very courteous and efficient.

Reasonably priced hotel close to I83 .

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: Location on York made it convenient to shop, eat, or just get to any location.
Cons: Modernize the lobby and eating areas as well as the rooms.
Location: Both York and Shawan are lined with stores and restaurants and the interstate is about 1.5 miles away.
The hotel reminds me of the old Holiday Inns. A cubby in the corner for clothes but nothing that could be called a closet. The fitness center is quite small and is equipped with 2 treadmills, an elliptical, and a stationary bike. There were a few light weights but no bench and no framework of any kind. The temperature control is provided by a unit in each room with no temperature control mechanisms. You can get heat or cold but have to adjust it manually.

Holiday Inn Express for the Holidays

Posted Mar 18, 2015 on Hotels
I stayed at this hotel while visiting with family for Christmas. It used to be a Fairfield Inn--I think--and it was not a pleasant hotel then. I'm happy to report that new ownership has made a great difference. The holidays are never a great time to be in a hotel because of reduced staffing, closed restaurants, and the like, but this hotel was run as if it was on full staff. The staff was welcoming, efficient, and cheerful; my room was spotless, comfortable, and quiet. The serve-yourself-breakfast was hot and plentiful. I've stayed in other hotels in the area over the holidays, and hands down, I will come back to this one next year.

The hotel is exactly what you would expect from a holiday inn. The breakfast is terrible. Really, really terrible. But that is also exactly like all free hotel breakfasts. There is a fantastic breakfast cafe just a few minutes north of the hotel.

Very attentive staff, amazing value

Posted Mar 8, 2015
Pros: Great gym, consistent breakfast, attentive staff, underground parking, clean and quiet room.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express Hunt Valley. It was a phenomenal value for the cost, and offers amenities and services to make it a home away from a home. The staff were attentive, courteous and approachable, with a special mention to Andon who was very helpful during a week of bad weather. The hotel had a very good workout facility, and offers underground parking that is indispensable particularly in the winter months. Compliments to the kitchen staff who provided a great breakfast with comprehensive hot and cold choices, and always ready to refill dishes for hungry guests. Overall an amazing place to stay!
