I have a long history of staying at 5-star hotels in Bangkok. Most these hotels are prohibitively expensive. Sofitel So Bangkok is a standout in that (1) it is nearly brand new (2) it is exceptionally clean (3) all staff are impeccably trained and (4) it is centrally located and has a great Lumpini Park. The only reason I didn't give the hotel a perfect rating is because of the eye sore building next to the pool area. I know that this is not within their control, but it really does detract from the poolside experience. It is likely that the building won't be around for much longer and anything in its place will be better. Other than that, I had an awesome stay.

"Overall a good hotel; location is pretty central"
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights; Our first visit to Bangkok. Overall a pleasant trip, hotel is what was promised. Clean, comfortable with friendly staff. Front desk staff's English was acceptable with some difficulties; However, they were accommodating. Most of the malls are of a short taxi ride from the hotel. We would stay there if we visit Bangkok again..
