“Not impressed, but likeled pet policy very much”

The staff was responsive in fixing the amenities, but the shower was dripping; the bleach smell was initially unbearable; not all lamps were functional and the heating was not possible to adjust to lower temp. Hotel is OK for a short stay. Love the hotel policy regarding pets.

“Not for families”

This Marriott Suites is set up strictly for conferences and training for the coporate offices surrounding the hotel. All the rooms on our floor had a big conference table with 6 chairs and a queen bed. I wouldn't recommend it for families, Actually, even women traveling on business may find the hotel annoying because the lighting is so bad in the rooms. It was very difficult to put on your makeup. The rooms were clean overall, but I will not be returning.

“Best value around”

This was a surprise to find such a nice hotel a a great rate. The buffet breakfast was first class. The suite room was comfortable and tastefully decorated.

“Amazing 2 room suite”

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of this room. It had a bedroom and living room separated by French doors. It also had 2 large LCD TVs and a wet bar with microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom had a separate bathtub and stand up shower. The room was very clean and well maintained. My only complaints were the small swimming pool, the $16.95 fee for breakfast (not included with room), and the $9.95 daily Internet fee. Otherwise, this is a great hotel!

“Northern suburbs best hotel”

“Loved it”

“Chicago, Deerfield”

This hotel was very nice and even better considering the price. The staff was very helpful and friendly. All requests were taken care of quickly. Small details in the housekeeping were not met, like enough creamer for the in room coffee or tops for the cups. These were very small details and immediately dealt with if brought to the attention of the front desk. One troublesome problem was the spa. The jets were not really jets, just openings that shot out annoying bubbles and not a jet of water which one would expect in a spa/jacuzzi. The hotel is located in an area that is not near any attractions. The train station is ten minutes away and the train ride to downtown Chicago is 55 minutes.

Area recommendations

I would stay outside the downtown area inasmuch as the hotels in the downtown area are very expensive, charge for parking and are difficult to get to considering the traffic. Also, a very good train system allows one to stay outside the city, pay less, forgo fighting traffic and is a fun thing to do if you're not used to commuting by train. Once inside the city I felt a car was not necessary and might in fact be a liability. Public transportation was great. Getting to the airport, on the other hand, was difficult. The signage is not easy to follow.

When to go

We went October 6-10. The weather was great (80 degrees). I hear winter is not when one would like to be in Chicago.

Must see

The Hancock Tower was fantastic. What a view. The Navy Pier was great.

Dining

Got to have 'Chicago Style deep dish pizza and a Chcago Style hot dog.

“Amazing King Bed Room!!”

When we walked into our King bedroom, the first thing we said was Wow!! Big room with king-bed in it's own private area with closing french doors and an office and living room feeling in the other area. The comfort of the bed itself with comforters were to die for!! Extremely comfortable. Highly recommended!

“Very impressed”

I pick this hotel because they had a good deal and I did not want to be in the heart of Chicago with being there during labor day weekend. It would have been crowd. So I picked this hotel. It is about 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. Upon arriving, the outside of the hotel looked ok but I had already read that in the review. Entering the hotel it looks as a 5 star hotel. The workers were very nice and helpful. My boyfriend that was meeting there from Michigan got lost and I called downstairs and they directed him into the hotel. I asked the front desk clerk to take a picture of us and she did without hesitating. The restaurant in the lobby had very good food. The room was beautiful and spacious. Two doors into the bathroom. The only thing I did not like was that they only had three bag carts which were not available during check out. So I had to make a few trips up to the room. This small city had a lot to offer a mall, movies plenty of places to eat. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.
