“Perfect Place for Wildflower”

Unlike some of the other budget motels in Chico, this one's downtown and convenient walking distance from bookstores, cafes, etc. We needed it for our annual organized bike ride in mid-April and the price was certainly right. Lots of other folks thought so too -- a forest of bikes on cars in the parking lot. No frills but competently managed. Wish the nearest espresso joint "Has Beans" opened earlier on Sunday morning.

“Kick back Chico Style”

This is a nice place with a well maintained pool in a great location near downtown. Jacks is a great place for breakfast a half block away. Plenty of parking and very quiet. This is not a Vegas style casino, its a nice family run operation who are all very friendly and helpful.Perfect for college students and parents on a budget. Has that Chico laid back feel to the place.

“Decent, inexpensive hotel in downtown Chico”

There's nothing special about this hotel, but if you're looking for an inexpensive room, conveniently located in downtown Chico, this one should do the job nicely. I've stayed here twice now, after a really bad experience across the street at the Days Inn wherein I found that the management at the D.I. was ambivalent about preserving the quiet at night or addressing problems. I'm pretty easy-going, but the D.I. really pissed me off. I went across the street and had the opposite experience at the Vagabond. The furnishings and feel of the rooms is that of an old motel, but it's clean, the staff is responsive and friendly and for getting a place to sleep at night, this did the trick just fine. No frills, low rates, fair price, great location.

“Had it's good points and bad points”

The staff was accomodating and helpful. The rooms were decent but our shower had obviously not been cleaned. The exterior is really dirty (but typical Chico) and in need of a serious pressure washing. Could have been better for the amount we paid but not so bad that I'd never stay there again.

“good room for the price”

I was fairly pleased with this motel. It was clean and neat, had a nice pool and was conviently located for my needs. My only complaint was that there was only one bath towel in the room--no hand towel, wash towel, or bath mat. I contacted the desk and they told me they would see that I received more towels. I never did.

“Good Value”

Good size room, typical for the price. Convenient location downtown, close to the college.

“Nice place for one night”

Bed wasn't very comfy. But the staff is super nice. All in all with where the motel is located (right downtown 1 block from the bars) it's worth the $51 we paid.

“for Chico, not bad”

There are not a lot of choices in Chico. The Vagabond is right downtown, and we were able to walk or ride bikes anywhere. The hotel is older, and is showing it's age, but is clean and the staff is pleasant. A decent, inexpensive place to stay, but there are few other options in Chico.
