"The photos are misleading but overall good. "
I was worried when I first arrived & noticed the old neighborhood & hotel. But, I was limited with my last min trip & decided to stay. The front desk staff were friendly. The pictures are misleading and the hotel could use a big renovation inside/outside.

Restaurant and bar area seems a bit small for such a big hotel (although there was no problem getting a table the night I stayed), but otherwise a very nice hotel. The staff were all exceptional.

"Wonderful new Mariott property, close to LAX"
Nice new property very close to LAX. Just opened a week before my stay. Shuttle service to/from LAX. Plenty of food options within walking or driving distance. Was perfect for my overnight trip to LA. Would probably make this my go to hotel when in LA.

"Great location, resort needs some updating."
The service was great, everyone was super friendly. The location of the resort was awesome, close to everything yet felt as if we were so far from the city. For the price we paid I was expecting the room to be more updated. The bathroom tile was semi-yellow rather than white. Some paint was chipped off on the doors because the layers were so thick. The signal to the TV kept going out when we tried to watch a movie while our daughter napped. (Maybe I just had high expectations) I would stay here again, would probably book far in advance to get a better price though. I would probably request a room with a fire pit outside as they were all taken by the time we tried to go to one.

    "Beautiful Hotel on Misson Bay"
We had stayed once before at the Dana. We still love it. Close to everything, yet quiet, clean & safe with friendly staff & the buildings & grounds retain some of their original mid century tropical style. We dined at Firefly restaurant twice & both times we really enjoyed our meal...the ginger wokked edamame were delicious. We enjoyed live music at dinner on Friday. Both pools are beautiful & all the other guests were friendly.

    Hotel del Coronado

    "Gorgeous setting, mediocre hotel"
It's hard to imagine a more beautiful hotel or better kept grounds or a more breathtaking setting. It's a shame that the service is so disappointing. They are understaffed for one thing. Valet parking was confusing and unorganized. There were lines at registration. Check-in isn't until 4 because the rooms weren't ready. All those problems could be cured by hiring more staff. The manager was wonderful when undertrained staff were insensitive to ADA issues. Room was a little shabby; there were dirty glasses in the bathroom. It didn't live up to the facade of the hotel. Food at breakfast buffet was excellent. It's worth putting up with all of this for the magnificent view. Glad we went, but I'd go somewhere else next time I'm in the area.
