Good location for foreign touristPosted Mar 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
well located for a foreign tourist on a short visit. 10-15 min taxi ride from the airport, 10-15 min walk to the Museum of Islamic Art, the Corniche and Souq Waqif. The surrounding area is not salubrious. The 9th floor seemed to be a non-smoking floor, a decent size room and bathroom, aircon, kettle with tea and coffee, safe, flat screen tv, bathroom with bath and shower, slippers and robe, mineral water, fridge, expected toiletries. The decor was a bit tired and the carpet needed a good hoover. I lost my second towel on day 2 which was a bit irritating as I didn't even ask for fresh towels. What was really lacking was information. I was told there was a city map in my room. There wasn't and the one sent up was a bad photocopy of a poor map. Nothing in room about local events, attractions, excursions, opening times. No mention of the Hop On/Off bus which stops at both MOIA and the Souq. The room service menu and tv channel information promised in the in-room directory didn't exist either. I ended up asking for directions and, generally, the staff were friendly and helpful. There is free wi-fi and a couple of computers available 24/7 in the "Business Centre". Breakfast was OK, usual buffet type with a station for omlettes and eggs, neither very good nor very bad. Waiter serviced tea and coffee was rather hopeless particularly on the very busy Saturday morning when the breakfast room was overcrowded and rather frantic.

2 night stayPosted Mar 25, 2014
Good location, easy to walk to sites worth visiting. Room was OK. Only one towel. AC would not adjust and 1st night was too cold. Breakfast was good, staff very nice. Easy parking provided.

Nice HotelPosted Jan 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room was very clean except for the shower and bathtub. The shower had a scummy floor and the tub had holes and chips in it and the handle was missing. The breakfast was basic but tasty. There was a hot egg/omelet and waffle station. The hotel is within walking distance of Souq Waqif. The corniche and Islamic museum are close but you have to cross a very busy highway to get to it. The free wi-fi kept shutting off.

good value for lay-overPosted Jan 11, 2014
Pros: price and room size
we were a family of four stopping for a long layover (10 hours or so) - thought the hotel was great value and pretty convenient for the airport - would happily go back large room / suite with plenty of rooms to put in kids beds

Close to the airport and cornichePosted Dec 11, 2013
Hotel was ok. Surrounding area has no amenities. 10 min walk to museums. Room smelt of smoking even though non smoking. Bathroom design odd - cramped.

Needs a Facelift!Posted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: A good deal when discounted on the Expedia website, and the suite was always well cleaned.
Cons: The suite needs a full modern refurbishment.
Location: See above; I stayed 3 days and unless you can do the expensive out of town day trips, 2 days is more than enough as a stopover.
Good location away from airport noise and major construction sites, yet close to the waterfront and the Corniche, and short walk to the major Islamic Museum jutting out into the harbour (absolute stunning building inside and out and with a stylish coffee shop). Got a good deal pricewise on a suite which was a very good size and clean. Unfortunately the fixtures and fittings were dated and worn (eg. carpet stained, bar fridge wonky and not cold, draw cords for the blinds mostly not working, towels super thin) and a refurbishment is overdue.Notwithstanding, the suite size, excellent cleanliness and the realistic price made it a good deal overall.

Good location nice and courteous staff. Rooms are not too clean. When I booked it it says free breakfast but no where in reservation it states that. No airport pickup. There seems to be some disconnect between hotels.com my Best Western hotel.
