Charming back to the 80s retreat

Posted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: Views from the villas Great snorkelling at high tide Free Kids Lunch and Dinner buffet before the main dinner hours
Cons: Send reception staff on training course, teach them how to behave in a hospitality business and live the Bula Way
Location: On the Coral Coast - be aware tides mean that there is no water to swim half day - villages and a town nearby
Wonderful little bungalows on the beach Stayed in both the deluxe beachfront room, which was modern but small and the larger Beachfront Villa, which was a little more dated but spacious with the most amazing view ever. It made us feel like we were the only guests and owned the place. Wonderful !! However, the general pool area and restaurant was straight from the 80s - felt like Spain all inclusive 1982. Fiji is famous for its friendly staff - BULA being the word, and Fiji time the attitude. Not here, staff seem to be more engaged with themselves than the guest but most importantly the reception staff were the rudest and most unhelpful ever. Also Cocktails are way to expensive for the standard of the hotel (FJ$22 toFJ$28) basically the price of a main course at the restaurant.

Lovely and relaxing stay

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: Quiet, good location. Right by the beach and main road. Very well presented. Staff were lovely.
Cons: Fridge in the room needed servicing, hospitality staff forgot about us a few times.
Location: Nice restaurant nearby, vilisites, good food and good prices, and excellent service.
We were greeted by friendly staff, and checked in quickly with no hassles. The service was excellent (most of the time) the place was kept to a high standard, our room was comfortable and cool with air conditioning and a fan. The food was pretty good too. Once or twice, the service and food took longer than usual. The fridge in the room had a habit of freezing solid everything that was in it, even after fiddling with the temperature gauge. (both things have been reported to the hotel) Otherwise, a lovely relaxing stay, Oh, and the massage ladies did give a very nice relaxing massage. Highly recommended.

This hotel was not as expected, found the facilities terrible. Everything was on top of each other, very small. Website was not as resort was in person

Pros: Friendly and relaxing atmosphere, great staff. I was able to have a go at all activities on offer. The wife read 5 books and we both had a ball.
Cons: More shade around the pool.
Location: On the Coral Coast, 90 minutes from Nadi airport. Didn't leave the resort.
We had 12 nights here in February 2015 and upgraded to an ocean view which is well worth it. The bures are being upgraded at present so it's pot luck if you get a renovated one. Staff were all very friendly which rubbed off on all the guests so there was plenty of chatting around the pool or at the bar or at dinner. You can do nothing or lots here as you wish. there are kayaks, snorkelling gear, stand up paddle boards, scuba lesson, fishing trips, village trips, fire walking etc etc. In the pool you can take part in aqua gym, pool volleyball or basketball. Lots of other activities are available during the day and there is always laughter during the games in happy hour. The food was good value with 3 theme nights during the week. The entertainment every evening was excellent especially the staff shows which involved members of the audience which added to the fun. A big thanks to the serenaders who sung us a song outside our bure every night even doing requests. Try to look at the tides timetable before booking as you can only kayak and snorkel a few hours either side of high tide. The one advantage of this though is with some reef shoes you can walk out to the reef and marvel in the different coral. Slight hiccup with the transport to the airport but as Rosies travel are at the hotel it was sorted out quickly with some private transport and we got to the airport in plenty of time.Weddings, proposals, birthdays and anniversaries all added to the great experience. Will go again.

Pretty locally owned resort

Posted Feb 28, 2015
Pros: Room design and layout. The reef for snorkeling.
Cons: A meal plan for meals only would be a plus. Free Wifi is important to us.
Location: We had a rent a car but found few things to do by ourselves without signing up for a tour. We went to Sigatoka Sand Dunes and Tavuni Hill Fort to hike
There was misinformation and confusion about internet charges. When we checked in they said it was $24. per day. When our next door neighbour said it was free we asked and they gave us the code at no charge. Breakfast was included in our package but other meals were a la carte and quite expensive. We asked about a meal package only/without alcohol and they did not have 1. Therefore we dined away from the resort. We really liked our room. Attractive with lots of storage and 2 showers (1 outside) which gave us lots of room to hang up wetsuits and snorkel gear. There was a nice little reef right out front for our daily snorkel.

The Fiji Hideaway Resort and Spa

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: The entertainment, location, traditional Fijian style, the people were amazing
Cons: The cost of food and drink
Location: Loads of things to do - sigatoka jet boat, 4wd safari, village tour, fire walking, boat trip to the islands, surfing, scuba diving.
The resort staff were very helpful and welcoming, they tried their very best to ensure you had a good time. The room could do with a paint to freshen up. The room was cleaned everyday. However, the cost of the drinks and food in the hotel were very over priced, $7 for a can of Sprite.

Overly promoted Hotel, without the facilities

Posted Feb 1, 2015
Pros: Location and friendly staff
Cons: Room facilities - should be renovated to a modern standard
Location: Beach side - fishing, swimming, walking, sun bathing, snorkelling or just relaxing
Great location but the rooms are not anywhere near what is promoted on the web-sites and not worth the price! This Hotel badly needs a renovation to improve the room facilities, such as Air conditioning, Water quality / heating. On the positive side, one cannot go past the Staff - very friendly and helpful
