Great place if you don't want to do much

Posted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: Very relaxed chilled out atmosphere - Bures are wonderful and give it a more Fiji private feeling rather than the boxy resorts. Outdoor bath is great!
Cons: The food - the hot stuff wasn't kept that hot and the cold stuff not that cold. Some staff were quite rude.
Location: Took the $2 bus to Sigatoka and went shopping for a bit, 30 minute trip to Shangri-La is well worth it for their buffet dinner, going on the dive trip
Hotel was great but the surf was a let down due to weather conditions, the location of Hideaway makes it really difficult to get anywhere else - Cloudbreak and other spots all involve a 1hr 20minute drive to Port Denerau and then a boat trip..... The food was nice but nothing special and snorkelling was ALL tide dependent and only available for 1-2 hours per day if lucky. This is a great place if you just want to sit around and do nothing.

Don't go to this place!

Posted Jun 12, 2015
I would not recommend this place. Food was really bad. I got sick from food and wife did also. They say they have 5 places to eat but 3 have same menu and one is never open. The food we did get had no flavor. Don't think they know how to use spices.

Pros: Friendliness and extremely helpful staff.
Cons: The lighting in the rooms, it was nearly impossible to read at night.
Location: It is a little far from town, but we found the local buses an attraction that added to the charm of Fiji.
I took 3 other friends and had a very pleasant holiday. Relaxing with very friendly staff. The breakfast was exceptional.

Relaxed family friendly environment!

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: EVERYTHING - especially the spa treatments in the open beach front room.
Cons: Variety of menu.
Location: Great shopping in Sigatoka (20 mins), 5 star dining at The Outrigger (10 mins) and golf at The Shangri-La (35 mins).
This was our second stay at the Hideaway and were once again not disappointed. The relaxed, family friendly atmosphere really reflects the Fijian way of life, with staff always greeting you with a friendly "bula"! During the day there is lots to keep you busy including kayaking, snorkelling, pool activities, cocktail tasting - the list goes on! My kids (2 & 5) loved kids club, which included an evening session from 6-8.30pm, allowing us to enjoy happy hour drinks and entertainment in the bar, followed by dinner in the restaurant. After dinner each night all guests are treated to performances from local village groups - which was great for all the family. This is only a small resort, however this creates a very social atmosphere among all guests. Bures are very spacious and can easily accommodate 4 people. The Frangipani bures have great indoor/outdoor bathrooms, with a large bath which is great for the kids. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are beautiful - would highly recommend!

worth the drive

Posted May 1, 2015
Pros: Nothing was a problem, the gardens were beautiful, it was simple and all you needed. The beach was so beautiful. Great breakfast!!
Cons: Nothing
Location: The resort was 1 1/2 hrs from Nandi airport. Taxis are the way to go. Went to kula Eco park, shopping in Sigatoka and a local village souveneir shop.
First time in Fiji, resort was a bit of a drive from the air port 1hr 30 mins. Well worth it, we had a fantastic holiday, barely left the resort, everything was taken care of. Kids had a ball. Great facilities, great staff, beautiful resort, right on the coast, snorkelling on your doorstep. Don't think it gets much better. I would definitely recommend it. Great family holiday.

Wonderful location to relax & unwind.

I had no preconceived ideas about this resort prior to my stay. On arrival I was met with a warm BULA greeting & immediately felt like I had been reacquainted with old friends. The staff & atmosphere in general is what drives this place, they are happy to please & help you in any way they can. The resort itself is set amongst well kept gardens, there are many hammocks & areas to just stop & soak up the ocean views & it also has a Spa onsite with services available to guests. I stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View Bure & was very pleased with the location, facilities & general standard of my room. Overall, some of the facilities are a little tired looking but if you're after a great all rounder that is also family friendly, then this is the place to stay.

Good Value Hotel

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: The gardens were well maintained.
Cons: The mini golf course needs to be seen to be believed. Quite a challenge!
Location: The location is great.
I stayed at the Hideaway with my family (2A & 2 teens) and another family (2A & 3 teens) and for us this was a great spot. Ths adults stayed in the beach front villas while the kids were in rooms behind (maybe beach view?) We used the place as a base and did the white water rafting (a MUST) and visited other local restaurants (Eco also a must). The pool area is a bit dated but the kids loved the ping pong table. The place reminded me of a 1960's holiday resort (or the "love boat?") with the activities... It was fun though. If you want a base and look around Fiji this is perfect. If you want a resort - go somewhere else...
