Least friendly hotel staff I've ever seen. Room was dirty, black streak on wall. Shower curtain was too short and mouldy. Could not shower without soaking the floor. This was a supposedly high end name hotel, very disappointing.

Outdated hotel in bad need of repair and updating

Pros: Not much. The bellman who helped us to our room and to the new room was very nice.
Cons: The room decor, carpet in the halls and bathrooms in the "B" wing all need an update. The buffet breakfast is average.
Location: The location is off the beaten path but does have a nice view as it is on Mt Scopus.
We were treated very badly by the front desk staff when we tried to check in. They had not received the booking from Expedia that we had paid for in advance and made us feel that they were "doing us a favor" to finally find a room for us. They took their time checking us in and we got the feeling that they were looking for one of the less desirable rooms to give us since they felt we had gotten a very good deal with the Expedia rate. When we got to the room, the toilet had a hole in it and didn't work and the room was dirty. We asked to be moved, only to be told that they were "sold out". We knew this wasn't the case as we had looked on line and saw they had many rooms available. We finally got the manager to move us to the room next door which was a bit better. We were definitely in the old part of the hotel and on a low floor. The bellman and the hotel staff were very nice but the front desk staff needs a definite attitude adjustment. We would never, ever recommend this hotel!

Pros: Location and facilities were excellent. The breakfast was wonderful, best we enjoyed during out entire 2 week trip.
Location: We hired a private tour guide who picked up us each morning. He commented that our location was excellent, easy for him to get to by car,
Excellent location; just outside old city. Only a short walk to the tram. Lovely facilities with indoor and outdoor pool and exercise equipment. Beautiful views and helpful staff.

Pros: The breakfast was the BEST!
Cons: New room FF&E.
We had stayed at this same hotel approx. 18 years ago when it was a Hyatt. While the staff is VERY nice and pleasant, most of the room amenities were no different now than 18 years ago. Need to update the rooms only.

I reminisce when this box saw better times.Breakfast, typical Israeli, was ok, but nothing remarkable. I had the dinner buffet, also unremarkable. Room was fair as the property is being run down and certainly needs to be freshened up. The only notable thing was a nice reception front desk area and amenable staff. Dan needs to do what they have accomplished with the reception area and now do the same for the other 99.5% of the property. Management was basically clueless, and in a 5 star hotel I expect a manager/greeter. Internet, albeit slow, was also included as well as guest parking. Dollar for dollar price was acceptable. However, the Dan Hotel chain needs to put some serious money into light renovations and a repaint. Furniture was out of communist block era maybe as late as the 70's. Shower update was ok and the pressure was satisfactory. It's a shame as this used to be a first class box. By the way, who authorized a ***** rating for this place any way?

Not a 5 star hotel!

I had many problems in the hotel. First, no one answered the phone in reception, second my room phone was making a noice consisting of a message stored, but after i got someone (finally after getting someone to answer the phone through the operator) he said it was normal and hat he couldn't do anything (the noice kept us awake at night and i had to unplug it cause they didnt do anything about it). Third, when i checked in the offered me a complimentary room upgrade, at first i was very happy but in reality I dont know what the upgrade was about, they said they changed me from a standard room to an executive room, and sincerely i didn't notice the difference, the ceiling was broken and they said these rooms were recently renovated. Fourth, the location of the hotel is not convenient, its far away from all the action of the old city and the surroinding areas. Finally, supposedely the rate per night is $580 USD, I payed around half of that and even that I dont think its wortht the money. The only great thing about my stay was the concierge service of the hotel. The person there helped us a lot with the planning and was very kind when we asked about places.

Not what I expected but unsure of what's better

Pros: Hot showers, comfortable beds and extra large showers
Cons: The Breakfast buffet and the overall friendliness of the staff
Location: Good location. It is located on Mount Scopus close to the Hebrew University so they have a couple of eateries close by
The hotel is rated as a 5 Star hotel and this was probably true 30 years ago as things are very dated and old. The furniture and fixtures are from the 70's, but when you go through the hotel you are aware that it was once a beautiful place as the architecture and design of the hotel is very nice. Some of the reservation desk staff was nice others did not greet you and was not appear to be interested in helping you out at all. The Concerige Ben was very helpful as well as the wait staff on the fourth floor at night in the common area. Some of the staff in the cafeteria was pleasant and the food for breakfast was okay but not what people from America would expect so be prepared if you are condsidering staying here as they had tuna and sardines as the only protein option for breakfast outside of eggs. The breakfast buffet was actually a lunch buffet as it consisted mostly of salads and pizza the breakfast items were comparable to a continental breakfast. The hotel had very hot water and extra large towels and the beds were two full size beds pushed together but the mattresses were comfortable.
