Great facilities, location; Very friendly staff

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: A delightful terrace offered cool breeze & great view all day. Great place to eat small breakfast, read a book, nap, enjoy a drink, meet local vendors
Cons: Pool could have been better (water too warm, lots of debris/sand, often tasted of sunblock), but we still loved it, swam every day!
Location: Location was ideal; close to airport, but didn't notice air traffic. Walking distance to shops & good dining choices. Everything within short drive.
Great place to stay. Staff was very friendly, concierge service was excellent. Even though checkout is 12p, they give you access to hospitality suites where you can take a shower and freshen up in the afternoon before your flight home. Private road to airport, providing uniquely fast and convenient shuttle service to and from the airport. Our flight home was delayed 24 hours when our plane had mechanical issues, but the Marriott Resort honored the voucher from the airline and welcomed us back, gave us our room back! Loved our stay, would visit again without any hesitation.

The perfect get away destination.

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Pools and beach are very clean and uncrowded. Rooms are very comfortable and roomy.
Cons: Only had one washer and one dryer in laundry room. Had to wait until 11PM on a week night to find an available washer.
Location: Great location. Super close to airport. Has it's own beach within a gorgeous bay. Affordable places to shop and eat within walking distance.
Hotel and nearby Kalapaki Beach has something for everyone. 5 of us stayed here including 2 persons 50 , and 3 persons 20 and we all had a great time. This Marriott resort can be as relaxing or exciting as you want it to be. Plenty of activities, night life, shopping, restaurants. Concierge booked a luau, catamaran sailing/snorkel tour & river kayak excursion for us. Fitness center has latest equipment and is squeaky clean. Great business center and meeting rooms available for business travelers. Restaurant staff were attentive and very friendly and welcoming. They provided us with lots of information on local culture and places to see. One never has to leave the resort, it's that good.

Great location, newly renovated!

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Beautiful grounds within walking distance of a few casual beach restaurants. Dukes and Portofinis on property are fabulous! Breakfast counter with pastries, coffee, cereal. Rental car is a must to explore island, pick up groceries, and drive to other top rated restaurants. Taxis are very expensive and not very prevalent. Pool is gorgeous and walks out on to beach. Less crowded than resorts in Popui beach. Staff is very friendly. Day room available for early arrivals and late flights out. 5 minutes from airport but no noise. Ask for higher floor room due to noise from ground level pool. Will go back!

Great beachfront - average service

Posted Jul 19, 2014
The location and beachfront is great. The staff is friendly but lack of flexibility and excuses on accommodating guests gets old. Example: The hotel was all over us to check out right at noon, calling to "remind us" yet we were at the same time ready to go and desperately trying to get anyone to answer the phone and bring our bags down. In fact, I called for service or questions 4 times during our stay, someone picked up only once. You are on your own!

Nice place to stay with the family

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: The main restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the food they provide.
Location: The hotel is in Lihue which is a pretty good location. The zip line place is nearby. There are a lot of shops and it is near the main road.
The hotel is really nice. The swimming pool is really nice next to the ocean. They also had nice waterfalls in the pool. The staff was friendly. I did find that the restaurant on the premise was not that good. If you go there get the seafood. I went for prime rib and it was like a rubber tire from a car. Terrible. Other than that, great place.

Nice Facilities

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Nice grounds and pool. Nice location relative to beach and restaurants (walking distance).
Cons: They definitely need to have staff available to clean the pool area on a constant basis. Quite a bit of trash was left laying around.
Location: Even though Dukes is a "chain" restaurant, the one next to the Marriott is pretty nice and somewhat reasonably priced.
My wife, daughter, and myself were staying on the north shore (we like the north shore much better than the south, east, or western shores) for about 4 weeks and wanted to stay a night on the south end. The Marriott has nice facilities if costs are not a concern. Like with most nicer hotels, there are a lot of hidden costs (particularly the notorious "resort fees," just another way to not publish the true cost of your stay). I tipped $15 by the time I got to my room (unload luggage at the entrance and bellboy to take luggage to room) and a pint of draft beer was $10. Will "trailer park it" next time and bring my own beer.
