Being situated in the Pacific Ocean has its perks. You can start or end your cruise in Hawaii or take advantage of the cheap hotel deals Hawaii has to offer to experience the many wonders mother nature has in store for you. Humpback whales migrate from Alaskan feeding grounds every winter to holiday in the warm waters surrounding Hawaii. If you're lucky, you might see a frolicking whale leap out of the water during one of many whale-watching catamaran cruises. Equally, dolphins seem to love Hawaiian water, and glass bottom cruises are the ideal way to view these intelligent animals in their natural habitat.

The islands are also home to some of the biggest waves on earth. Waves at Jaws Beach on Maui can reach heights of 70 feet and move at 30 miles per hour. For this reason, it has become something of a Mecca for experienced surfers the world over.

For people who like their sea slightly less choppy, Hawaii also has some of the world's most beautiful snorkeling spots. Molokini, for example, has the clearest water in Hawaii, with visibility often at 200 feet, and is teeming with vibrant aquatic life. Take advantage of Hawaii hotel deals – whether you like your waves big or small - so you can stay at the best hotels in Hawaii to enjoy the islands’ waters.

From the air, a helicopter ride along the Kohala Coast explores stunning sea cliffs opening into the majestic valleys of the Kohala Mountains. Much of Hawaii is not accessible by foot, but a helicopter ride offers an unparalleled vantage above untouched landscape.

    Cultural embrace

The culture of the native Hawaiian people has been enjoying a proud rebirth. The best way to experience this cultural uprising is at a Polynesian Luau, where the history, music, and dance of Hawaii are celebrated by women in grass skirts, men with face paint, and crowds of fire dancers.

Of course, Hawaii had a major part to play in the Second World War, and the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor pays tribute to the men and women who lost their lives on December 7, 1941.

Be it on land, in the ocean, or from the air, the true power and beauty of nature reveals itself in Hawaii. But while its volcanoes bubble and its waves roar, the people of these islands are able to relax, smile, and enjoy the finer things in life. And when you visit, they'll encourage you to do the same when you stay at hotels in Hawaii – no matter if you prefer luxury hotels, 5 star hotels or enjoy all inclusive hotels in Hawaii. This state like no other is ready for you.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. First time in Maui and location great! Walk to beaches for body surfing & snorkling, hiking and walking trails. Also saw whales from hotel property! Got delicious inexpensive meals at Honolua Market up the street. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Ritz-Carlton.

"A great place to stay "
The Sheraton was just right for our stay for a quick getaway from rainy Seattle. The pools were great including a beautiful ocean view cabana with great service. We loved the infinity pool at sunset and the regular pool with the kids. The location was perfect for restaurants and shopping and the views were stunning. We enjoyed Rum Fire for drinks and a great meal with a view and the walk on the beach to Dukes was fun too. It isn't pure luxury but a solid place to stay to be in the heart of everything.

Good place for families or people who spend more time at the hotel. Very clean and spacious. Just wish it had better views or closer to the beach. Be careful of your first morning's 8:15am wake-up call from the timeshare people that hang up on you when you tell them they just woke you up.

    "Lovely Stay"
We stayed in a Monarch Suite, which was great because it had amazing views and an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. The butler service every morning was delightful and they even brought hot chocolate for our daughter. The wild chickens of Kauai visited us every morning, much to our daughter's delight. Overall, the hotel and especially the facade needs a big renovation (as other reviewers mentioned) but it didn't really bother us at all and we would happily return in its current condition. The front desk service was pretty underwhelming and the staff was borderline rude and sullen. Everyone else at the hotel was super friendly and pleasant. The bar was awesome with live music and delicious food. The views were amazing and the beach/pool were very nice as well. The gym got a bit crowded in the morning, which was annoying so I had to go really early at 6am every morning to get a good workout in without having a line form behind me. The main breakfast area was charming and the food was great. It was kind of annoying how the main grill you would want to go to for breakfast (and dinner) was closed several nights of the week for dinner, leaving you with no viable options with a young child. We went off property a lot to nearby Hanalei, Princeville center and also on trips to the lighthouse and Wailua falls near Lihue. Overall, it was pretty great.
