"Steve and Denise are wonderful hosts, have put a lot of thought into making sure guests have everything they need and there are many artful finishing touches. The views from the porches front and back are spectacular. My wife loves mountains--this was another way to experience Maui!"

"This is our second time staying at this property and we love it so much. There have been some updates since our last visit and we love it even more now. It's the perfect space for our large family, with plenty of room for the kids to run and explore. They loved seeing geckos every day, listening to the birdsong and crowing of the roosters, and saying hello to the goats next door. The complaints we have are fairly minor: We couldn't find the beach towels. There weren't enough bath towels for all of us. The WiFi didn't work for over a day (and with cell service being pretty shotty, it made it difficult to research and make plans for the next day). And for a vacation home, there definitely should not be any "not microwave safe" plates and bowls. Even though they were pretty! Our biggest complaint was the cleaning crew arrived early and, though checkout wasn't until 11am, they came up the driveway at 10:45 and hovered around until we left. This seemed rude and unprofessional to us. Getting six kids (and even more suitcases) loaded into the car is enough as it is without feeling "watched" and pressured to hurry. I know it's a LOT of work to clean and prepare a rental house, but it's my feeling that there should be at least a 15-minute buffer to allow guests to fully exit the property before the cleaners come in to do their job. We have stayed at many, many VRBOs and this is the first time we've ever ran into this issue. Overall, a most wonderful place to stay, though!"

"Great location with a very comfortable vibe. We felt relaxed and welcome immediately. Loved being able to meet and chat with Steve & Diane. The bed was especially comfortable and wonderful being able to sleep with the doors open (strong storm prevented us from being able to sleep in the bubble) but didn’t feel like we missed out on an experience as it was still such a quiet, calm, and special place."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The home was very clean and just absolutely beautiful. We always enjoyed starting our day on the deck and coming back to relax after a long day of enjoying the rest of Maui. The house had everything we needed and Marianne was very quick to respond when we had any questions. We've rented quite a few places all over and this was by far one of our favorite places and it was so hard to leave. It definitely will be our go to place coming back to Maui."

"The Jungalow was an amazing spot to begin our Hawaiian vacation. It was the perfect spot to explore upcountry and East Maui. We loved being only an hour drive to sunrise and a good spot to begin Road to Hana as well. So much adventure to explore around here. We enjoyed dinner at Mama’s one night (what a treat), but loved coming back to the Jungalo to rest our tired legs the other nights. A good soak in the hot tub is the perfect end to day whether watching the sunset or the stars twinkle. Loved all the suggestions from Dawn — the Poke from the grocery store in Pukalani was amazing — too many choices and all delicious. We grilled some local, aged grass fed strip steaks on our lanai that we purchased down the road at the general store in Makawao. Delicious! All of the little touches here were amazing — fresh lemons and limes from the garden, little umbrella’s and tiki glasses for your cocktails, fresh flowers everywhere, twinkle lights on the umbrellas, I could go on and on. . . Perfection!"

"Our stay was as pictured in every way! Cottage was stocked and well-appointed. The star gazing from tub on porch was exceptional, as was drinking morning coffee listening to the birds and roosters. Mahalo for kicking off our 20-anniversary trip in such a special way. Lifelong Maui upcountry fans now!"
