Paradise on the beachPosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: Food, drinks, beach, comfort, nice little details and hotel set up.
Cons: Spa services, transportation and more water activities
Location: Shopping, some tours you can purchase like Margaritaville etc..
It was a great experience for us. This couples only hotel has everything you can wish for. The stuff knows everything to make your stay comfortable. Great food, live music every night, friendly stuff, clean and neat hotel. But if you're looking for a professional massage stay away from the spa. They hurt me badly it was a bad experience. Other than that all included is a wonderful thing. You drink, eat, have fun all day long. Beach was wonderful but several swimming pools were great, too. Some of them open just for preferred customers but you can upgrade your room and get a preferred option paying extra. We couldn't go to downtown for shopping because even though you pay for it they need 4 people for it and there wasn't anybody else for 3 days! So transportation is not good. Overall I can recommend the hotel to everybody.

Checkin and pool tempPosted Nov 26, 2013
The checkin experience was horrible. They wanted us to provide them a voucher from you(Expedia) so "they could get paid". All I had was confirmation email from you and they wanted a copy of it. However, I had to have internet access to email it to them. They would not provide the internet access unless we paid for it. I refused to pay for it and also told them that this was the first hotel I have ever seen ask for a voucher from Expedia. 2 hours later, they have in and gave us access to internet wifi so we could email confirmation from our iPhone. Was totally unacceptable and ridiculous. I will say this, if vouchers were needed, no instructions were given to make sure we had that printed for them. But to keep us at the checkin desk for 2 hours after flying all day was so unacceptable. So I don't know who dropped the ball here, expedia or secrets St James.

Immaculate resort.Posted Nov 9, 2013
Pros: The cleanliness of the rooms and grounds of the resort were top notch. Everything is new and maintained to the highest levels.
Cons: While everyone there was friendly and greeted you with a smile, there were some who didn't seem sincere, and would remind you that tipping is ok.
Location: Stayed on site enjoying the wonderful beaches and water sports.
One of the cleanest, well maintained resort that I have visited in the Caribbean. Great choice of several beaches on the property. Bar service (included) at the pools and beach, although the drinks are not strong at all. All of the employees greet you with a smile and hello, but some reminded you that tipping was "appreciated", which made their smile less sincere. I saw several people (including myself) get upgraded for an additional fee, which I think is part of their pitch. Rooms were amazing. The only downside was the lack of more "life" at the pools and beach etc. Music and pools close at 6 pm (yes 6 pm) and it is very quiet on the grounds. Library quiet. Some nice Jamaican music or such would be nice. The food (included) was average for an all-inclusive. They also have 24 hour room service which is included and is very convenient. Overall I had a good time, but I think that they could really make this a top-notch destination by bringing some "energy" into the resort. Last note: I highly recommend buying tickets ($30) for Club Mobay which is at the airport upon leaving. It's a wonderful lounge, open bar, food, TV's, showers, and massages (for a fee) in the airport. A much better way to sit around waiting for a flight.

We made a last minute booking for Secrets St JamesPosted Nov 3, 2013
Cons: the food.
Location: Stayed at the resort. in Five days we did not get board with the beach, pools and spa.
The 5 day stay was excellent. Staff, accommodations, beach, pool great. The food was good but not as good as Secrets the Vine in Cancun. The spa was top notch also.

Secrets St. JamesPosted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: Beach, pool, bars, and restaurant
Cons: The rooms. Need private bathrooms
Location: Only did excursions. We did not go out on our own because did not know much about the safety of the location.
Overall it was a good experience. I have never been to an all inclusive resort and really enjoyed it and thought it was worth the price. I thought the cleanliness of the room was poor and did not like the fact that the bathroom was not private, It is basically separated by a see thru curtain from the bedroom (absolutely no privacy). Beach, pool, restaurant, and staff were great. Food much better than a cruise ship and there are several options for retaurants and bars.

Wild Orchid Preferred Swim OutPosted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: One person stood out in the Wild Orchid Preferred reception area. Her name is Tshenequa (not spelled correctly) she made us feel like a million $.
Cons: We consistently felt like we needed to tip the staff for food and drinks. If this is expected, I would have carried small bills, but it is all inclu.
Location: We stayed in the resort area except taking a cab to the town, It was not a comfortable feeling among the Jamaicans.
St James Preferred portion of the resort was very nice, We upgraded to the Wild Orchid Preferred side of the resort and were fortunate enough to get the swim out room. It was an additional cost per night but it was worth it, we enjoyed every minute. All the resort restaurants were on the Wild Orchid side and outside our lobby. We enjoyed the food, drinks and entertainment. We like our privacy and there was plenty of that when we wanted it right outside of our patio door in the swim out. There were 16 rooms total with this feature and they are separate from the main pool. The weather was great and when it rained, it was for a short time.
