“Great Hotel in a Great Location”
This is a re-creation of where the Rat Pack would hang out after hours. My boyfriend and I were in Portland for the weekend and stayed here. The hotel is in an excellent location. We walked the entire downtown area from here including Powell City of Books, tons of local breweries, the Saturday Market and the shopping district. The staff were friendly and the valet guys were great. The rooms were clean and large for the price. The only downside was that the bed was pretty soft but they have a cool "pillow menu" where you can request pillows of any firmness.
“Great locations, great hotel”
Great location. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The rooms are a good size and very clean. My only problem on this stay was the shower curtain smelled of mildew.
“Hotel deluxe, great nights sleep”
The bed and shower was amazing!! Room was a little small and there was no counter to put your toiletries on but I slept great and the staff was very helpful.
“Service plus”
My friend was sick during our stay and housekeeping called to see if there was anything we needed. I left my rings in the bathroom when we left and discovered it before we got to the airport and when I called the hotel, housekeeping had already from them and they were holding them for me. The staff is the friendliest and most helpful and add to the wonderful experience of staying there. In addition, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone going to Portland as one of my friends had recommended the hotel to me. Bravo Hotel deLuxe.
“Sadly, I'm pretty disappointed....”
I've stayed at the deLuxe three times. The first time I absolutely loved it....we had a king room on an upper floor in the corner. The staff was tremendous, the room was great, but a bit small. They comped our parking so we gave the parking staff a $50 tip. I was very impressed and told all my friends. Last time it was good, but a little disappointing. The location is not quite as handy as many other downtown hotels and the prices keep going up. This time we were in a room with a queen bed. It was so small, the bed was pushed against the wall and you could only get in from one side...not bad for a single, lousy for two. The view was straight into the rooms across a very small outdoor space. I really want to still love this place, but I probably won't go out of my way to stay here again. Love the bar and the parking staff is still great. The rest not so much.
“Hotel matched expectations”
The hotel is in a fair condition and matched my expectations. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. For a hotel in the US, I'd expect a bit more space in the room, but it was still bigger than an average European hotel room. The bathroom was clean and the toiletries were of good quality. The hotel staff was helpful and gave me a gift to be used at their restaurant when I told them I was spending my birthday there. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise with delicious food! I totally recommend a dinner there.
“What a disappointment”
Rave reviews in other media led me to Hotel deLuxe. Compared with other similar price hotels, the room was microscopic (but very clean.) The rates were high and didn't include WiFi. No pool, no services. Even the in-room coffee had artificial creamer - a surprise in coffee-crazy Portland. I had heard about the superior service - although the staff was pleasant, they seemed distracted. The street noise was loud with a rattling window as the trolley passed by. One third of a mile to the nearest coffee shop. We won't be back.
“Had a great weekend”
Went to Portland for the weekend and loved every minute at the Hotel DeLuxe. Parking was easy to figure out, we were greeted immediately by the gracious doormen, and the front desk was wonderful. I loved the old hollywood theme and our beautiful room. The room was on the smaller side but it was all we needed. We could hear one of neighbors all the time but that was the only negative.
“A perfect experience”
What a lovely hotel! From the doormen at the beautiful glass entryway up to the lobby, to the room, no complaints whatsoever. As you ascend to the lobby there are large photos of 40's movie stars that change throughout the day, providing a new experience everytime one enters the lobby. A very nice seating/relaxing area with lemon water available all the time. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating or pleasant, saying 'hello' with a smile each time one passes the desk. Smiles and greetings from all employees, in fact. The elevator is very secure, requiring a key swipe to access your floor. My room was small (queen) but wonderfully appointed and SO comfortable. The pillows were to die for, and if they're not, you need only to ask for a different type. They provide a nice array of snacks and a fully stocked locked refrigerator; free for usage but a charge for the existing snacks. Also an in-room safe. Flat screen TV, extremely clean room - I couldn't find dust anywhere. A wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone. I would definitely stay there again!
“amazing hotel.”
I am extremely pleased with this hotel. Great service, great food, wounderful atmosphere. From now on I will stay just at this hotel when I am in portland.
