Bungalow Style in a Tropical Jungle Environment!

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Great place! Would absolutely visit again. Staff are personable and always helpful. Food is great and place is like no other. An experience staying in a tropical forest with waterfalls and lakes along the pathway to the beach footsteps away from your room.

Beautiful beach but limited food selections

Posted Jul 26, 2014
All inclusive doesn't mean all inclusive here. They want to charge you extra for a lockbox, wifi, and premium drinks. There were only 2 free restaurants. One you had to pay $6 a person.

Worst Hotel In Playa Del Carmen

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Beach
Cons: Everything!
Location: 5th ave
Dirty rooms and size of a shoe box. Never served any seafood. No sodas or beers in the room unless you pay for it. The bath towels are very old and rough! They keep hounding you to attend their sales pitch for time shares. Don't go!!!!

Pleasant Resort

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The beach.
Cons: Room decor (standard room), TV selections (more English channels), quality of snack bar food.
Location: Fifth Avenue shopping (take a cab, it's too far to walk)
Comfortable resort, met expectations overall. Check in/check out could be a bit more streamlined, the front desk staff appeared to be bit overwhelmed if there were several guests waiting. All the staff were very friendly and courteous. Standard room was very ordinary, nothing exciting, served its purpose. Decent food selection at ChulaVista (buffet) and Botticelli Italian restaurant. Quality of the snack bar selections could be improved. Drinks were decent with generic brands (surcharge for premium brands). Ample sized pool(s), they were not overcrowded, however you needed to secure a spot/pool chair before 11 a.m. Beautiful beach, no rocks, coral etc. Did not participate in any activities but there were quite a few things going on each day. The Tropical show in the theater was good, the comedy show was not :( Also the ambiance of the theater was very ordinary. Again, overall, a pleasant experience.

You get what you pay for

Pros: There are a couple of other restaurants besides the buffet. We tried the italian restaurant and we were very impressed with the entrees and desserts.
Cons: The rooms need an overhaul. They are a bit bare.
Location: Very close to the 5th ave. strip where there are a lot of shops. Its a 10 minute walk from the hotel, or a cheap taxi.
Overall, it was not a bad hotel. The rooms were sparsely decorated, but I felt they were clean. There are a lot of chairs on the beach, but you have to get there early to get a spot. The water is beautiful and the sand is white. The beach is kept very clean. The pools are also clean and warm. The buffet food was a little above average, but there was a decent variety. The property does show signs of age, but its not too bad. We are not picky about our drinks, and we were completely satisfied by all the bars.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!!!

Pros: The beach and location are great. The playacar area is the best and feels very safe and convenient.
Cons: make the hours better suited for the bars and add some staff to the areas. Actually serve what is listed at the snack bar. I could go on and on!
Location: If you get a chance go to the small Kiosk near Starbucks between 4pm and 9pm and find Angel (male) and take the whale shark excursion! It was awesome
If you have never been to an all inclusive resort you may find this one OK. If you have been to other resorts I am confident that you will NOT. This resort is small which is nice and we traveled with our 20 year old son and his friend which allowed us to meet many wonderful people. Past that the resort did not live up to any other all inclusive we have stayed at before. The food is poor at best and we are simple folks that don't need a lot and after speaking with many people at the resort everyone had the same feeling on the food. The hours for the bars are set up horribly wrong, the pool bar which has a swim up side and a walk up has ONE overworked bartender and long waits, the snack bar never had the items listed as offered, typically just hamburgers and hot dogs and again ONE cook and long waits. After 6 pm you can only find ONE bar open for the rest of the night and no food at that bar and a decent walk to get some chips or snacks. At the snack bar there is a soda machine with no cups to use. One must go get a cup at a bar and come back. If you want to get in the hot tub you must pay the premium wrist band. The beach is amazing but there are many other resorts close by with the same beach. We were only approached twice to participate in any games etc and never saw the listed activities for the day take place? Beach Olympics were posted every day and never happened. At one bar you have to ask for a cookie located behind glass... NO WAY IS THIS ALL INCLUSIVE!

Excellent hotel close to the beach

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: The staff, food, and access to the beach.
Cons: Cant think of anything.
Location: The location is awesome great beach and very close to Quinta Avenida. Its like a private community it has its own little shops, stores, etc..
It was an amazing experience will definitely stay again! The food was good and they had a lot of variety. Thank goodness there was also a snack bar that served pizza, hotdogs, nachos, etc which was good for picky children. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff was friendly and inviting.
