Hyatt on the Bund-excellentPosted Feb 22, 2014
King bed extremely comfortable, huge bathroom, Aroma buffet had wide variety of Western/Europen/American food, quality excellent. Hotel staff friendly & accommodating. View of the River spectacular from our room. Spa like new age quiet ambience. Vue Bar on 83rd floor gave out postcards for guests to write & they mailed them for you. Great bar.

good sleepPosted Feb 7, 2014
I stayed in a couple hotels during my stay in Shanghai/Bund area but got the best sleep in Hyatt. The location is not very convenient if you would like to walk around/sight seeing though.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic servicePosted Nov 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
We visited the Hyatt as part of our honeymoon around Asia and it was one of the best experiences of our trip. Exceptional service, great room with one of the best views over the Bund in the whole of the city, we could see the whole river and the oriental pearl from our room. We enjoyed the huge selection of different foods available at both breakfast and dinner and thought it was great value for money. We also visited the Vue bar on the roof of the opposite tower to us and it had a great atmosphere, just a little busy and we were unaware that we would have to book roof terrace seating, even when going as early at 8pm on a week night.

Modern hotel, but poorly run.Posted Oct 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had the club package. Club lounge was well below average compared to others in Asia. Tried to eat at the Xindalu restaurant, but failed. They took our booking, but the first 4 things we tried to order were unavailable - frankly it was a joke. Also, while many rooms have good views of the Bund the views to Putong are on a sharp angle so you can't enjoy them much at all. One last thing; This hotel is most definitely not 'on the Bund'. It should be called Hyatt near the Bund. Personally I would stay elsewhere and just go the Vue bar, which is very impressive with great views.

Horrible staff at front deskPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: Housekeeping lady was the friendliest person this hotel has for staff...always smiling and greeting you.
Cons: The lady at the concierge desk was cold and unfriendly, she made me feel like I was bothering her, like she had better things to do than help me.
The view was not of the river as the description said when booked. The front desk agent argued with us for a good 15 minutes that our room( which was very small by the way) was what we paid for and that was the best available. The view was of the adjacent wall of the hotel with a tiny view of the dirty pond at the curve of the river. We showed him our email confirmation that said full river view, but he still refused to give us a room with a view. We argued some more and were finally given a room with a view. Customer service was poor for a Hyatt. Nothing compared to the Hyatts in the US, where the front desk would have done what they can to accommodate and fix the mistake. Don't get fooled by the buffet breakfast either: it was not worth the 476 RMB for 2 people they charge. It was a whole bunch of topping for noodle soups, a bunch of bread and an omelette station. The serving displays were always empty and not refilled ( cheese station with no cheese, bacon station with no bacon, ham given by the sliver, terrible cold cuts, cheap quality sausages). Good thing it was included in our room rate. By the way, upon arrival, the bellhop standing at the front door didn't bother helping us getting off the cab with our luggage and all, but offered to take our bags once we crossed the threshold and were in the lobby.

Unforgettable weekend at the Hyatt on the BundPosted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed during the highest heat wave in the last 140 years in Shanghai, according to the statistics. Excellent service since we walked in, check in process was a delightful experience. Room perfectly arranged and decorated with very good taste. Perfectly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. Great view to Pudong from the room, highly recommended. Internet (wifi) works perfectly well and fast in the room and everywhere in the hotel. Breakfast is superb, many choices -Western and Asian food. Have a drink at the VUE Bar (is a must) and experience the best view of the Bund from the 32nd floor. The area around the hotel is interesting, a little away from the Bund and nothing that a taxi ride or a nice walk could not help. Service is excellent, they really made a difference for me and my children to make it a very special weekend, away from the heat.

Hyatt experiencePosted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness of room
Cons: Communication in English needs to be improved
Location: Very good, near the river, with a great view.
While the front desk certainly understands English, quite a few in the outlets don't. So there was much frustration - ordering a simple slice of cake was confused with ordering a whole cake. But the hotel is in a nice location and the views are great.
