Horrible staff at front deskPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: Housekeeping lady was the friendliest person this hotel has for staff...always smiling and greeting you.
Cons: The lady at the concierge desk was cold and unfriendly, she made me feel like I was bothering her, like she had better things to do than help me.
The view was not of the river as the description said when booked. The front desk agent argued with us for a good 15 minutes that our room( which was very small by the way) was what we paid for and that was the best available. The view was of the adjacent wall of the hotel with a tiny view of the dirty pond at the curve of the river. We showed him our email confirmation that said full river view, but he still refused to give us a room with a view. We argued some more and were finally given a room with a view. Customer service was poor for a Hyatt. Nothing compared to the Hyatts in the US, where the front desk would have done what they can to accommodate and fix the mistake. Don't get fooled by the buffet breakfast either: it was not worth the 476 RMB for 2 people they charge. It was a whole bunch of topping for noodle soups, a bunch of bread and an omelette station. The serving displays were always empty and not refilled ( cheese station with no cheese, bacon station with no bacon, ham given by the sliver, terrible cold cuts, cheap quality sausages). Good thing it was included in our room rate. By the way, upon arrival, the bellhop standing at the front door didn't bother helping us getting off the cab with our luggage and all, but offered to take our bags once we crossed the threshold and were in the lobby.

Unforgettable weekend at the Hyatt on the BundPosted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed during the highest heat wave in the last 140 years in Shanghai, according to the statistics. Excellent service since we walked in, check in process was a delightful experience. Room perfectly arranged and decorated with very good taste. Perfectly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. Great view to Pudong from the room, highly recommended. Internet (wifi) works perfectly well and fast in the room and everywhere in the hotel. Breakfast is superb, many choices -Western and Asian food. Have a drink at the VUE Bar (is a must) and experience the best view of the Bund from the 32nd floor. The area around the hotel is interesting, a little away from the Bund and nothing that a taxi ride or a nice walk could not help. Service is excellent, they really made a difference for me and my children to make it a very special weekend, away from the heat.

Hyatt experiencePosted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness of room
Cons: Communication in English needs to be improved
Location: Very good, near the river, with a great view.
While the front desk certainly understands English, quite a few in the outlets don't. So there was much frustration - ordering a simple slice of cake was confused with ordering a whole cake. But the hotel is in a nice location and the views are great.

Comfortable, but lousy service.Posted Jul 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel is typical hyatt - great location, great modern design and well taken care of. Service could be improved. I had problems before I arrived being oversold on a car service, and then at breakfast they were insisting I order the $50 buffet, but I wanted to just order something off the menu. I was then told if i did it would take 20 minutes as it had to come from a different kitchen. This with about 15 staff in a restaurant less than 10% full! Shameful service.

Great hotel for business or pleasure travel.Posted Jun 7, 2013
Pros: The Vue Bar
Location: Great location 5 minutes walking distance from the Bund.
Fantastic location with a great view of the Shanghai skyline. All the main areas of the Bund are within walking distance and the metro line isn't too far (Nanjing station). I highly recommend the Vue Bar, as the name suggests, the view is great. The drinks are over priced but you are in a bar, in a good hotel in an expensive city. You don't get gouged but don't expect cheap drinks either. The room was in great shape. The use of the pool, hot tub and fitness facility were all included in the room fee as was the wifi in the room. All of the facilities were exactly as expected from a 5 star location. This hotel is great for either a business traveller or a tourist. You can't go wrong by staying here.

Pros: Vue Bar
Cons: A decent place to sit outside
Location: 5 minutes from the Bund, 15 minutes walk from Nanjing Road
The cleanliness and quality of the room was superb, however a little expensive, but just about acceptable. If you book this Hotel it's worth paying the extra for the river view. Chinese restaurant on the Lobby floor with traditional roast Peking duck, again a little expensive but delicious.

He say you blade runner...Posted Apr 10, 2013
Ace. Get a river view room for an excellent angle on the Bund. Lovely staff, great service, fantastic bar with SH classic view of all the Blade Runner stuff. Stay there, stay high. It's what SH is all about these days.
