Wonderful FindPosted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The beach, and the view
Cons: Could be modernized a bit.
Location: Short very boat to restaurants, bars and shops. You can book tours also.
This hotel is a short ferry ride. The view is amazing and the beach is beautiful. There is a bar on the beach that is open till about 6:00 or so. The beach restaurant offers breakfast and lunch till 4 pm. If you want a laid back relaxing hotel, this is it. Don't expect modern furniture or bedspreads and draperies. But if you want a wonderful hotel at a decent price this is it. There is also a hut to rent jet skis, kayaks, etc. On the dock there is a small shop for snacks, cold drink and souvenir.

Karen's Working VacationPosted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: The sea breeze and the having an ocean view room, I could hear the surf anc the waves at night.
Cons: The coffee could improve a bit.
Location: You are right downtown in Christiansted within walking distance to museums and shopping.
The hotel is great! The staff are frinedly and the boat to and from the hotel is always there when you need to go. The island is idealic and the seeing nature with the pelicans are diving for food and the wind blowing was just beautiful. The location is excellent for weddings or private parties and beach is fabulous!

Great Birthday GetawayPosted Aug 4, 2014
My 5 night stay at Hotel on the Cay was great for what I needed (a place to rest my head and a beach to lay out on). Sara and her staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room I stayed in could use a good deal of updating but clean nonetheless. The location was perfect: your own private island oasis, yet town was a short ferry ride away. Overall I was pleased with my experience.

Hotel needs updatingPosted Jul 15, 2014
The hotel needs updating and the surrounding ground needs lawn services. The rooms are outdated, and pest control. I spent one night at this hotel and I don't think I would recommend it to any of my family or friends.

Beautiful atmospherePosted Jun 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
Overall the stay was nice. The room was clean and the attendants were very accommodating. My biggest concern was the frequency of the ferry, but we had no issues. The food at the hotel was a little higher than I expected and I was surprised to find out most restaurants close at 8pm. but the hotel notified us of this fact at check-in. Definitely worth it!!

not bad Great beachPosted May 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Only issue was my return trip to hotel, after the fiery stops its daytime hours it is on call for pick-up On one perticular occasion it never came to get us even after various attempts so we were stranded all night 2am until 5a that they finally answered the call and picked us up

ParadisePosted May 5, 2014
Pros: Location and grounds, the views. That house keeping is not knocking on your door every day. We let them know when we wanted service.
Cons: Update the rooms with new beds and bedding. Brighten the paint colors. New tiles on floors.
Location: Location is great! Nice beach, close to shops, bars and restaurants, but yet separated by the harbor for privacy and a sense of security.
We were disappointed when we entered our room, it was dated and not up to the standard of many places we have stayed. Getting to the hotel was a bit of a challenge also, as it was 10:00pm and we had a rental car. There is not any designated parking for the Cay so you must try to find a parking place close that is not a 2 hour only. Then we had to figure where to meet the boat to take us to the Cay and drag our suitcases across the Fort lawn to the wharf. All of this became a faint memory in the morning when we awoke to a beautiful view, beautiful grounds and a lovely beach, all on this “guest only” Island. We quickly realized why we were there, it was not for the room, it was for Paradise. The room was nice enough for a place to sleep and shower. There was plenty of hot water (bring your own shampoo) and each room has a balcony with a beautiful view which we utilized for coffee each morning (bring your own coffee and filters) and a night cap each night. Being separated from downtown by a 2 minute boat ride was also nice, for security and privacy, but if you are a tipper bring lots of 1 dollar bills! We snorkeled many locations on Saint Croix but by far the best was right there at the Cay! We saw 9 turtles, 2 spotted eagle rays, a southern sting ray, a barracuda, cushion starfish, coral and may other colorful fish.

Unique island hotel with its own beach!Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: The beach, the view of the Carribean and Christiansted.
Cons: The hotel, itself, needs to be updated. Also, the air conditioning did not function properly during our entire stay.
Location: We stayed on a unique island, Hotel on the Cay, near Christiansted Harbor. We enjoyed all the little shops, restaurants and snorkeling!
Hotel staff was very friendly and informative. We enjoyed having unlimited access the beach. Our favorite restaurant was "You are here- Bar and Grille"
