"Welcoming, cosy B&B hotel and bar."
Fiancee and I stayed at the Luib hotel for 4 nights late June early July 2014. We found the hotel really exceeded expectations. The room was fine, fairly standard, no issues. The ensuite bathroom was clean, modern and appeared recently refurbished or otherwise kept in very good order. We had breakfast at the Luib every morning and found them to be excellent and very consistent, a full breakfast consisting of 2 bacon, sausage, 2 eggs, mushrooms, beans, potato scone, haggis and tomato. Don't believe I've had a better fry up in any British hotel. What really stood out for us was the friendliness of the owners James and Nelly, who always seemed to be around and available. I would normally use a hotel as a place to sleep and have breakfast and would normally seek dinner elsewhere, but every one of our 4 nights we were happy to have dinner at the Luib and then a few drinks from the bar. Dinners were also of a good standard, for 'pub grub' very decent. Our first day we went walking up An Caisteal, a venture that took us somewhat longer than we anticipated. We had mentioned this plan to James in the morning, and when we returned to the car around 8:30pm James rang us, as he was growing concerned that we hadn't returned. When we did get back he and nelly offered us nivea for use on the sunburn we had incredibly managed to achieve. Small details, but they added to a sense of a genuine and friendly couple running a very welcoming hotel. Would recommend, would return.

"Cosy, country pub, great value for money. ."
Arriving late after a long journey with my daughter and dog, we were all given a warm welcome by staff. Room was spotless and contained everything needed for an overnight stay. Breakfast was worthy of a four star establishment, cooked to perfection. Staff were courteous and helpful, I would recommend this country hotel without hesitation.

"Convenient stop-over"
We booked this as a convenient stop-over when travelling from the far North of Scotland down to the Midlands. The hotel was easy to find and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. There was plenty of car parking. The breakfast was Ok and the evening meal reasonably priced and OK. The Hotel is old and partly r re-fitted. The corridors are creaky and the lift - maybe Edwardian, has a job to take 2 people and a case. Its a lift with two concertina doors and is maybe not suitable for disabled people. The room was small and cramped. The bed had seen better days and I think new mattresses are needed. The bathroom was Ok for size but had only one functioning light bulb and was therefore dark. The shower cubical was very small although the shower worked fine with plenty of hot water. The shower etc. was clean. The best aspects of this hotel are its convenient location, ample parking and the friendliness of the staff. We didn't pay a great deal so I suppose we got what we paid for.

Unfortunately we were unable to make use of the spa, which seemed very inviting. The room was lovely and spacious. The hotel was within walking distance with many sights to see and explore. Excellent for a weekend away.
