Lovely hotel. Some problems though. The wine that was ordered to be waiting didn’t come. Because the telephone in the room wasn’t working - which we reported but wasn’t fixed - a long walk to reception to let them know. Restaurant food and service were awful. Lovely spa though. Could be so much better with attention.
We enjoyed our time at the Apex. It's a beautiful building with a beautiful view. The room was clean and the bathroom was very spacious. We enjoyed the pool, steam room, restaurant, and bar. We felt very comfortable during our stay at the Apex and it's our choice hotel if we are in the area again!
My daughter and I stayed here for a week during the Easter holidays. It was the perfect location for exploring the surrounding area and visiting the likes of Loch Looking and the Trossachs, Stirling and Falkirk.
It’s a beautiful large spacious building with some very excellent function rooms and leisure facilities. The staff were very friendly and very professional. The dining room and breakfast was excellent. The subdued lighting was probably beneficial to those with a slight hangover from the previous evening. We found the rooms warm, comfortable and functional but lacked artistic charm. The dominant feature being an oversized TV screen, which remained unused. We felt the corridors to the rooms were also devoid of interest, texture or charm. I was startled to find a live silverfish in the bag containing the rubber shower mat in the bathroom. I spent the remainder of our stay wondering where the others may be hiding. The room was to the rear of the hotel and the hotel has an extensive car park at the rear. The noise from the car park disturbed our sleep as people came and went. This was especially disturbing after 01:00 am and also around 03:00 hrs. Some additional soundproofing may help with this.
We were disappointed to be allocated a room with an adjoining door which we did not request.
A guest with a noisy dog was in the next room which was through the adjoining door which was annoying.
The shower flooded in the morning due to water not running away sufficiently which was reported to reception and I was told maintenance would have a look at it, the next morning the same happened which was very annoying.
There were construction activities around the hotel during our stay which we were not informed about.
We had a very enjoyable meal on our arrival night.
