Modern Hotel centrally locatedPosted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: The Mercure chain is well run and moderately priced.
Cons: The air conditioning system could be improved so the windows don't have to be opened to cool the room.
Location: There is a block of wonderful restaurants adjacent to the hotel and the Palais des Papes is across the street. Nice shops within a 3 block area.
The Mercure Cite des Papes is a moderately priced hotel modern hotel. It is a bit noisy given its central location and proximity to restaurants and bars, but generally comfortable and clean.

City CenterPosted Oct 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent location, right at the steps of the Palais du Papes. That site was not at all the main focus of our stay, yet it was not noisy or troubled by mass onslaught of tourist traffic. We found it very convenient for restaurants or walking anywhere in the central city. Very clean comfortable room, a bit small (otherwise it would earn a 5 for comfort). Very pleasant, helpful staff. Well priced for the location and hotel amenities.

The Mercure, Cite des Papes is conveniently located to the Cites de Papes, le Pont d'Avignon, as well as the city main square, complete with a variety of restaurants, cafes, and walking distance to shopping, tourist centre, and souvenir shopping. Room was clean, service available in French, helpful.

Very clean and well located hotel right next to the papal palace. modern interiors and bathroom was particularly impressive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit small but that is what you would expect for the location.

Very satisfied... would stay there again and recommend it to others. Not only was it a great hotel, it was convenient to the Palace and a ton of great cafes and shopping. Darn near perfect!

Excellent StayPosted Aug 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
It is just next to the major spot. Many restaurant nearby. Fast wifi is a merit. As we drive to Avignon, but the nearest car park to hotel is few minutes walk on the unflat path, so not easy to take luggage from car park to hotel.

The hotel offered the conveniences of an American style hotel while still maintaining the French flavor.

Great hotel, small details missingPosted Jun 10, 2013
Pros: Convenient, confortable.
Cons: Non-working air conditioning!
Air conditioning in room didn't work. Also small upkeep things like kickboards in lift that had been broken and removed but not replaced, hairdryer that didn't work... shouldn't these things be checked? I thought Mercure was a quality chain...

Modern in the midst of MedievalPosted May 31, 2013
Pros: The comfort level, the location in the very heart of the old town,
Cons: If you arrive by car, good luck getting your GPS to find it- even though once you DO, it seems so obvious!
Location: Super convenient and steps away from great restaurants, the Palace and the heart of Avignon
Very conveniently located for seeing the Papal Palace, this hotel is actually a very modern venue in a very medieval setting- but it works. The rooms were excellent, the service attentive, the morning view out the window was lovely.
