Great hotel in an excellent location. Right between the Pope's Palace and the main square and no more than 5 minutes walk to the river. Very comfortable and clean with excellent breakfast.

centrally located. Within 10 mins walk.Posted Jun 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
Nice, clean hotel very centrally located. 10 mins walk to everything. Clean. Highly recommend it. Its 15 mins walk - straight up - from the Avignon Gare, adjacent to Banque de France in the Place Horlogue.

Right in the center of old townPosted Apr 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was well-situated in the heart of old town Avignon. Unfortunately, and through no fault of the hotel, there was extensive construction going on from very early and rowdy party-goers in the square at night, so the room, while lovely and quite large for France, left a bit to be desired. The breakfast (extra cost) buffet was excellent, and the staff helpful if a little overwhelmed. Avignon is a beautiful city, so it was a minor inconvenience. Skip Aix and go to Avignon instead!

Great LocationPosted Apr 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Great location for seeing the sights of Avignon, right on the doorstep of Pale des Papes and easy walking distance to other places of interest. Some of the communal areas of the hotel were a little faded but rooms were modern in style and comfortable enough. Only issue we had was noise in the early hours of the morning from bin-men who really ought to be told to keep it down!

Modern Hotel centrally locatedPosted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: The Mercure chain is well run and moderately priced.
Cons: The air conditioning system could be improved so the windows don't have to be opened to cool the room.
Location: There is a block of wonderful restaurants adjacent to the hotel and the Palais des Papes is across the street. Nice shops within a 3 block area.
The Mercure Cite des Papes is a moderately priced hotel modern hotel. It is a bit noisy given its central location and proximity to restaurants and bars, but generally comfortable and clean.

City CenterPosted Oct 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent location, right at the steps of the Palais du Papes. That site was not at all the main focus of our stay, yet it was not noisy or troubled by mass onslaught of tourist traffic. We found it very convenient for restaurants or walking anywhere in the central city. Very clean comfortable room, a bit small (otherwise it would earn a 5 for comfort). Very pleasant, helpful staff. Well priced for the location and hotel amenities.

The Mercure, Cite des Papes is conveniently located to the Cites de Papes, le Pont d'Avignon, as well as the city main square, complete with a variety of restaurants, cafes, and walking distance to shopping, tourist centre, and souvenir shopping. Room was clean, service available in French, helpful.

Very clean and well located hotel right next to the papal palace. modern interiors and bathroom was particularly impressive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit small but that is what you would expect for the location.
