"It is certainly "off the beaten path", but well worth a visit. While there is plenty to do at the Heydalur site itself, we used it as a base for day trips to other parts of the area. The valley is just beautiful. And the Country Inn, while a bit rustic, has everything you need. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with all you need (including wifi). The staff could not be better - personable, knowledgable and willing to accomodate special requests. We had dinner there every night and it was delicious - from freshly caught trout to Stella's delicious stuffed chicken breasts. "

"Everything was great! I especially liked the sitting areas, both inside and out. The outdoor showers looked fun to use, but it was a little cold outside for me. My husband used them, and enjoyed them. "

The natural hot bath nearby was within walking distance to the hotel. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was nice and updated. We stayed in a family room/suite that had a bed and a pull-out bed/couch. Highly recommend, would stay here again for the west fjords."

"My family of three adults stayed two nights in order to photograph puffins on the Latrabjarg cliffs. As it turned out, one day was rained out and the second day had high winds (30 mph) and gusts to 45 mph which made it too difficult and dangerous to approach the cliffs. So no success here. However, we had an excellent meal of cod there and enjoyed talking with the owners about the local history and his travels in California as a young adult. "

"If you are looking for a remote location in the Westfjords with an amazing view, this is the place. The view from the living/dining room overlooking Vatnsfjordur and the Atlantic Ocean is serene and can't be beat for beauty. The location is very quiet with very little car traffic. You have to travel 45 minutes to the nearest town, but there is a hotel within a couple of miles with a gas pump and a good restaurant. The location is a good base for traveling to many of the Westfjord sites. The lodge is well appointed with all kitchen necessities. I traveled solo but there are plenty of comfortable beds for a larger group. It is always nice to have an accommodation with a washer and dryer. Several days the sheep were on the front lawn. The host Jon Baldur was very quick to reply to my many questions prior to travel. This was my 3rd trip to Iceland and I will be sure to use another Nordic Lodge in the future."
