Viterbo, Italy Hotel Rooms at the Independent

The proprietor is deeply involved with architecture as well as with the history of Viterbo, and is charming and helpful with ideas of what to see, etc. The premises were built in 1200s, recently and tastefully updated. Good value.

We decided to stay at Podere Giullio, because we wanted to be kind of close to the airport after getting off s flight from Sicily to Rome. The drive from the airport was a little longer than we anticipated and we did have difficulties finding the agriotouriismo ....but after some friendly directions from a lovely man just closing up his shop, we finally arrived and happy to be there. What a lovely place. We had a suite that would sleep 4 comfortably. The best part was the restaurant on the farm. The food was absolutely delicious..a very busy place and so well run by the three brothers. Many locals know about the restaurant and it was packed on both nights that we stayed. This is a must return place and I hope we do. It would be a great place for a family get away. Close to a beach and 1 hr drive into Rome and lots of room for the kids to run and play

Stayed one night before boarding a cruise from Civitivecchia. Port is about 20 mins by taxi and the hotel will provide transfer for around 35 Euros. A very comfortable and well presented hotel a short walk from the centre of Tarquinia (but it is a stiff uphill walk). The staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfast standard continental but adequate.

The Villa Farinella was delightful. Valentina, the owner, went out of her way to coordinate with our arrival and provided excellent advice on local restaurants and sites. The public rooms have the personal touch of an old family home and our bedroom was both elegant and cozy.

We loved this hotel ! It's true Italy and the staff made us feel at home. The breakfast and cappuccino was excellent !

We arrived to Farnese after 4 days in Rome. Per the reviews we thought it was going to be ok but it was a wonderful surprise to find such a wonderful, nice and peaceful place right in the center middle of the country side. Franchesca (the owner) is a great host and the way she run the hotel i must say is way better than a simple bed and breakfast and also by far better than many self called "hotels" we have seen during our trip. Farnese is a beautiful town, close to Pitigliano and not that far from Orvieto, two small towns you must visit if you go to Italy.

The apartment is in the historic centre and was clean, spacious and fully equipped. The terrace is fantastic! Parking within the city walls is difficult but there are free parking spaces nearby. If you book this, take note of the address (it's no. 10) and ensure you contact the owner directly before arrival to organise the collection of the keys.
