We were traveling to Florida from New England and this was our first stop after a very long day of driving. The reception could not have been more wonderful. Our room was really lovely (only complaint was that we heard absolutely everything from the floor above us. Every footstep every whisper every suitcase roll. Maybe some carpeting might help? I know it is not at all I’m keeping with the aesthetic of the place, but some sound buffering would be really good) Breakfast in the café was lovely and the woman working could not have been kinder. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here.

I found this property on the internet when searching for a place to stay while we toured the area. I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was! The staff were exceptionally friendly! Beautiful grounds, and beautiful room. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a bottle of wine that was left for us in the room. Breakfast was delicious! My husband and I started in Williamsburg and then drove down the coast looking at lighthouses. We stayed in several different places, but none came close to our wonderful stay at Wedmore Place. The only negative thing that I could say about our stay would be to pay a little more attention to cleaning. I stepped on popcorn kernels in our room (we didn't have any popcorn), and had to wipe off long black hair on the toilet upon our arrival. I would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend it to everyone!

Heat wasn't working in our first room. Staff response was prompt and we were upgraded and transferred to a suite. Attractive property with European feel. Each room is a little different. Nice breakfast.

The property was on a beautiful Vinyard and was surrounded by trees and a small pond, it was picturesque to say the least. The room was extremely clean and smelled freshly cleaned as we entered. The bedding was extremely soft and comfortable. We enjoyed the lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries and breakfast caserole. We enjoyed our tea and coffee in the sunroom facing the pool and beautiful trees.

This property sits beside the Williamsburg Winery and the two times we have stayed there it has included two flights of wine, a bottle of wine, and a delicious breakfast. The rooms are nicely appointed and we really enjoyed the Normandy room with a double tub.

This is a very beautiful and unique property! I would not hesitate to come here again or recommend it. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway. Each room has its own unique decor. I was in a Double Premium room which was very spacious with a queen bed, sofa, table and two chairs. However, it was clear that the owner needs to invest in property maintenance and upgrades. The heating was not working properly and none of the fireplaces were working or in process of being repaired. The TVs also could be upgraded and premium channels could be added vs just standard cable. Breakfast options were limited but tasted great. As a 4 star hotel, I expected better. But the staff were excellent, very responsive and tried their best to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.

The aesthetic of this hotel is wonderful and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making the property beautiful as well as keeping the historical charm. The location doesn't get better for visiting downtown Staunton. However. We stayed in 2019 on our honeymoon and the breakfast was simple and free (we enjoyed having coffee and a pastry in the nook) when we arrived this time we saw that breakfast is no longer free to guests and the "restaurant" is $18 per person. Not awful, but I don't see why muffins and coffee can't be available for guests(or something of the sort. That would be my only complaint though! Overall good time and great staff.

This is my fourth stay at Wedmore and we always book the Normandy room. While we love the grounds, the staff is so kind and helpful, and the wine tasting & breakfast are perks - this stay was a tad disappointing. I believe a year ago the hotel cam under new management/ownership and the price of the hotel rooms doubled. We almost picked another place but decided to waited until right before our trip to book the room to get a decent price. I expected to see upgrades with the cost increase. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When we arrived at our room the door was unlocked and the door ajar. Had I been traveling alone, I would not have entered the room. Further, the bathroom door nor the exhaust fan worked properly. The celing was disclored perhaps mold around the vent? Finally the pillows we were given were small, lumpy and very uncomfortable. My husband balled up his coat to sleep on it. Upon checkout, we shared our concerns with Jo and she was kind enough to offer a bottle of wine. And said the upgrades were coming. I certainly hope so. Its a charming hotel and would hope to stay again. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra.
