“We travelled with a group of 5 couples and stayed in the Welty House, known for being part of the ghost tours in Gettysburg. The rooms were decorated in period furniture. There was a beautiful courtyard with tables and chairs where we were able to gather. The beds are very firm, so this made it difficult for some to sleep. Rooms have electric fireplaces (except the Georgia room) which warmed up the rooms nicely. They moved me from the Georgia Room after the first night as the gas fireplace was...

Amanda the host took care of everything and also made a wonderful breakfast. It was a great experience. Didn't walk around much or see the main street the property is on, but it looks interesting.”

“Nice, historic, easy walk to most anything in Gettysburg. Friendly, helpful staff. Room small but adequate; couch/folding bed was OK to sleep on once I rearranged cushions under the thin mattress pad. ”

“ The first night the room was too hot because we did not not think about turning the heater off. I found the bed to be uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping. The hospitality was wonderful and breakfast was great. We learned a lot of Civil war history. We were surprised to find that the other couple staying there was from our hometown also.”

“The term "hotel" is a little misleading as it is more like an inn where there is no hotel staff onsite. An innkeeper greeted us to check us in and give us a tour of the property. The room was very clean and comfortable. We also visited the onsite restaurant, which was lovely. The food was excellent! Unfortunately, there were no real options for breakfast in town and no shopping or entertainment. If you stay here, be prepared for a quiet night in.”

“We stayed at the James Buchanan Hotel during a trip to whitetail for skiing and the hotel was my favorite part of the experience. It was cozy, clean, and they even upgraded our room. It was so much fun to go to the pub in the hotel. The manager of the pub was so attentive and polite and everyone made sure we had a great stay. I can’t say enough nice good things about this place and I hope we will go back someday soon!”

“The area was beautiful and very quite! We loved the cabin we stayed in. While we did run into some minor issues, staff was VERY accommodating and attentive. We hope to come back and would love to stay on the grounds again. They love dogs and that made us feel more comfortable. The pool was awesome, as was the arcade room for our younger members of the group! ”
