The Inn On Ferry Street makes Detroit bearable
I will definitely use this hotel again should I visit Detroit. The rooms were well-appointed and very comfortable. The service and food were exceptional. The only knock was that parking became a little tight as the weekend approached.

Youd never expect this in Downtown Detroit!
The Inn on Ferry St. is our favorite place to stay in Detroit. If youre looking for an upscale, "new" hotel with restaurants and bars, this is not the place for you. But the atmosphere in these old houses is very comfortable and the staff are outstanding! Highly recommeded. Weve been back several times.

The Place to Stay
This was a very quick trip to Detroit to interview for a graduate program at Wayne State. Inn on Ferry Street was ideally located for my needs - very close to campus and the department buildings I was visiting. This was a beautiful B & B with cozy holiday feel within some great architecturally historic buildings. The staff was pleasant and attentive and greatly helpful. There was a chance of getting snowed in and I was disaapointed when my flight WASN"T cancelled. I would have loved to stay an extra day holed up in this beautiful and relaxing hotel

The hotel shows a 4 star, the fact its not. Feels unsafe. Especially for a single woman.

Inn on Ferry Street - Detroit
The employees were friendly, the architecture and decor were beautiful. The location was easy to find and suited the purpose of my trip well. I probably would not have chosen to stay there without the package deal I got through Expedia, as the rooms are rather expensive, but I was glad that I could stay there with the combined airfare/rental car/lodging deal that was offered. The sleigh bed in my room was wonderful -- best nights sleep Id had in a good while. (I have already recommended this Inn to people that I know.)
There are more than two dozen Civil War generals buried in Detroits Elmwood Cemetery...Historic Fort Wayne (not to be confused with Fort Wayne iin Indiana, although it is named for the same man) has been in existence since before the Civil War. There is not much Civil War history at the Detroit Historical Museum, but it has some interesting exhibits.

A superb place
We went to Detroit to see an opera. The hotel was picked from reviews in Expedia. It was a superb choice. The manager and all hotel employees were very polite and friendly and very helpful. The rooms reminded rooms of an old time mansion . The breakfast was excellent and on each table there were real flowers. The shuttle service was beyond belief. They took us to a restaurant of our choice. They pick us up to take us to the opera house and at 11pm they are waiting to bring us back to our hotel!! The hotel is virtual walking distance to Detroit Museum of Arts and other museums. We intend to go back and we recommend it to anybody that is going to Detroit.

Great Place in Detroit!
They took great care of us even though they also had a wedding going during our stay. Shuttle service to downtown events is a great convenience, as is the free secure parking. Breakfast was great as always and the rooms are unmatched in their decor. Great spot to stay in Detroit, especially for couples!

I wish I could have spent more time at the inn...
I flew into Detroit for one night for my orientation at Wayne State Univ. The inn was in a beautiful location and close to the college. The room was so clean and cozy that I felt as if I was in my own bedroom but better. The people at the front desk were very nice and the breakfast was perfect. I cant wait to go back with my family for my graduation so we can all stay at the inn.

Great for comfort and service
Chose the hotel because it is within walking distance of the Detroit Institute of Art. Discovered that this restored Victorian hotel is a lovely place to stay - comfortable room in quiet location, great breakfast and a shuttle service downtown.

Excellent Hospitality
This was very enjoyable stay. The room was excellent and the street is beautifully tree-lined and full of historic homes and houses. The shuttle allowed us to visit various brewpubs and our event downtown without having to drive. Everyone was very accomodating and helpful.

Beautiful hotel in surpsingly walkable location
On a whim I decided to try out the Inn on Ferry Streets unique house-style accommodations rather than a comfortable but standard room in a high-rise downtown. It was very rewarding, especially in terms of atmosphere -- the Inn definitely showed off the classic Detroit aesthetic of splendor mixed with modernity that you wont find expressed quite so ebulliently anywhere else. Service / amenities were good (very strong wireless Internet signal). You could actually stay there without a car, which is saying something Detroit, one of the least transit-friendly cities in the U.S. Food + museums in a 5 minute walk. And the hotel has a shuttle to take you to the downtown core where you truly can do everything on foot. Because its close to Woodward, you can take the bus if you are a visitor used to using transit (e.g. New Yorkers). We decided not to use the shuttle because we had a 1-year old with us (they said they could keep the car-seat in the shuttle to help us out, but had already opted to do things closer before we knew that). Nice touch was a piano in the "parlor" of the house (you have access to the common areas of the house such as the living room downstairs). It was in tune and I played it a little in the afternoon. Breakfast was comprehensive and satisfying -- definitely someting to look forward to. Writers and artists will love the place, or anyone with an easily inspired imagination.
Ask ahead about a crib for child, and if a car-seat can be used with the complimentary shuttle. Try the park close by for outdoor time for your child.

Best choice for Detroit in-town
Room includes substantial free breakfast, and free shuttle service anytime to locations within 5 miles. This is a boutique hotel, consisting of 3 beautifully preserved and updated historic houses from the 19th century.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Hotel is one block from Detroit Institute of Arts, one of the US best museums. Also convenient for meetings at Wayne State University and Detroit branch of Federal Resrve Bank of Chicago.

Charming, Great Location and Clean
Spent the weekend in Detroit and the Inn on Ferry Street was outstanding. I have been in the hospitality business for over 25 years and I was impressed. Charming, clean rooms, great staff and a great breakfast. I plan on returning to Detroit and will stay at the Inn again.

Best place to stay in Detroit!
I have stayed here many times over the years and love, love, love this hotel. Not only is it beautiful, romantic, and historic, but the service is excellent. This trip was for my anniversary and my husband and I arrived 3 hours early. The room was ready and the shuttle driver took us promptly to Comerica Park for a Tigers game. After the game, he picked us up in front of Chelis. Breakfast was wonderful with a fresh assortment of fruits, bagels, eggs, waffles, pastries, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, 3 different juices, etc... The bed was excellent and the atmosphere was casual, but elegant. We always stay here when going to a Red Wings or Tigers game. The shuttle even had to take me to the hospital one time because of a sudden kidney infection. He even came back for me and drove me to Comerica Park for a night game! They even give you warm cookies and complimentary water when you arrive! I cant say enough about how great this place is. You wont be disappointed.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Use the free shuttle to go anywhere within a 5 mile radius. Theyll drop you off and pick you up. We always use it when going to a Tigers game.

Victorian Charm
Elegant Victorian charm and convenient modern comfort are perfectly matched at the Inn on Ferry Street. I highly recommend this "bed and breakfast" and have already done so with family and friends.

What a gem in Detroit!!
I booked this hotel on the recommendation of a friend that works for Wayne State, and he was spot on! I had planned a trip to take my husband and son to the Detroit Science Center, and it was the perfect place to stay... well kept Detroit secret! We made use of their shuttle to go to the Science Center, as well as to have dinner in Greektown... the hotel is charming, the service is great, and so are the people! It has all the charm of a B&B, with more privacy. The free parking at the hotel was a bonus, as was the breakfast. I have no doubt that we will stay at the Inn on Ferry Street again!
Traveler's tip on dining
We enjoyed lunch at Wasabi, a great little sushi place just around the corner. We were able to walk there, and the sushi rolls were amazing.

Loved this grand old mansion
Folks at the hotel went out of their way to offer us the very best service during our stay. We were delighted when we went into our room and found that everything, all fixture and etc. were new and yet retained the ambiance of an old, grand hotel. Each setting room area had a cozy fire burning and decorated for the holiday.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you are attending a hockey game, discovering whats new at the Detroit Institute of Arts or the Science Center, or on the town for a night of gambling, this is a delightful place to stay. They shuttled us to the hockey game, and let us continue to park in their parking lot the next day(while we went to the DIA next door)-no cost.

Another great stay!
Our third stay at this beautiful Inn, this time for two nights. Went down for a Red Wings game and a Lions game the next day (hey, they ALMOST won). About the only gripe would be the breakfast. For some reason, both mornings, the Sterno under the eggs wasnt lit and they were cold. Everything else was find. Best perk is the free shuttle service. I cant imagine driving and trying to park in that nightmare traffic situation at either the Joe or Ford Field. Whenever we go to Detroit, this will be where we stay.
