"Nice Surprise on Arrival"
I was up in Brechin, from Bristol, for a family funeral, and arrived at the hotel early evening. I got a friendly greeting from Joanna (one of the hotel owners) on reception, who advised me that the single room I'd booked in the hotel wasn't available, but that I'd been allocated one of the hotels self catering apartments (directly across the road) instead.
This turned out to be a very large, 2 bed apartment on the top floor, with fantastic views over Brechin. It had a spacious light and airy lounge, open plan, fully fitted kitchen, and decent sized bathroom.
I was more than satisfied with the change!
Joanna couldn't have been more helpful, providing information on the hotel, local shops, WIFI details etc.
The following day, the funeral tea was also being held in the hotel, and I was surprised to see Joanna working in the function suite, serving guests with teas, coffees, food and drink.
On my final morning, once again, I was surprised to find Joanna serving breakfast to guests!
She's obviously able to turn her hand to any job that needs to be done in the hotel.
The breakfast were very good, but my only disappointment was that on both mornings, I chose a local delicacy, the 'Arbroath Smokies' with poached egg and bacon, however on both mornings they were already finished!
Overall, I found the hotel very welcoming, and the staff very friendly and helpful..
