Pros: Location, spacious room.
Cons: Airco
We had a plezant stay at the Botany Bay hotel. Nice pad to walk in front, parking area and terraces. Friendly staff, tasty breakfast and spacious clean room.

Great hotel, lovely location

Posted Jul 5, 2016
Pros: location, staff and cleanliness
Cons: sound-proofing
the hotel is right by the sea front. there is plenty of parking and the room we had was clean and comfortable. Just don't pick a night when there is a party in the room below as there was a lot of noise and the whole room was vibrating to the beat below. This did lessen after 10 p.m. but went on until 11.30. The staff did apologise and would have moved us but for the fact that they were fully booked. The breakfast was very good. We were given several choices and had smoked salmon and scrambled egg on sourdough bread which was delicious. I would definitely like to stay here again, just not on a party night!

Could have been better

Posted Apr 13, 2016 on Hotels
I was disappointed as the room was a lot more expensive than advertised on the website, and when we stayed, I felt like it wasn't especially good value, or decor was outdated and a bit shabby considering cost (£200 per night). The room wasn't turned over during our stay - it was claimed that I put 'do not disturb' notice on door, but I didn't, so this too was dissapointing. It was a nice enough hotel, in a nice area, though further from broad stairs than hoped, but stay would have been better if I hadn't felt ripped off and the service had been more conscientious.

Comfortable one night stay

We spent one night at the Botany Bay Hotel and were very impressed. We arrived on a Friday evening and check-in was quick and easy, the staff were very friendly and polite. The room was a good size, perhaps containing a little more furniture than we found necessary, although we probably would have made good use of it if we had been staying for longer. Tea and coffee making facilities were excellent, and the bathroom had a bath and a shower, though the ventilating system was very noisy. There was also a mirror that lights up in the bathroom, great for applying make up! We ate in the bar that evening, which is dog friendly and very relaxed and welcoming. There was a good range of meal options and the food was delicious, the breakfast the next morning was also great- we had been expecting a buffet-style spread of pastries, cereals etc, but were presented with menus and the meals were cooked specifically to our needs. The location of the hotel is great, right beside the beach and very quiet (the bar is not close to the rooms), we will definitely return when the weather is warmer!
