Allan operated on this historic property dating back to 1898. This 2 bedroom, one-level home is perfectly situated to maximize the views of Point Lobos and is just a few steps to Monastery Beach — famous for diving and pounding ocean swells. Take pleasure in the sweeping panoramic ocean views of Point Lobos and a white sand beach as your backyard. Scuba divers come from far and wide to enjoy the kelp forests, otters, seals, whales and other wildlife found in the waters off Monastery Beach. Hardwood floors, fireplace and large glass panels blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living. 3 cottages on property. Two 2 bedroom one 3 bedroom.

Ocean front cozy paradise
We chose this property for its private location directly on the ocean. We wanted to drink our morning locally roasted coffee and our evening glass of local wine on our private oceanfront property! We wanted to watch the sunrise and sunset on the beach and walk out the back door to a spectacular almost private hiking trail along the coast! This was perfect! Cozy, quiet, clean. Relaxing and awe inspiring! 😍

This enchanting seaside cottage is right out of a fairytale! Spectacular views of Pt Lobos and Monastery Beach mesmerize you as you sip your morning coffee or sunset wine. The cozy wood burning fireplace adds to the charming ambience. Stunning walk to Carmel River State Beach is a great way to start each day. The cottage was well equipped and clean. So happy the owners are willing to share this family retreat with us. Cannot wait to return!

Best Trip Ever!!
This is one of the best vacations I have ever had. The property is amazing. Perfect views of the sunset over the beach. It was relaxing to listen to the sound of the waves at night while falling asleep. The town of Carmel is so cute and quaint and the locals are so friendly. But truthfully if I never left the property in 5 days I would have been just as content. I hope to be back next year.

We had an amazing time during our stay at the Abalone cottage . The cottage was clean , quaint and cozy for the 2 of us. It has a Beautiful view of the ocean !!! Loved the Cozy fire place for the chilly nights . We enjoyed chilling out in the lawn chairs in the back yard listening to the waves, watching the coastal fog come and go, and walking down all the paths along the ocean. Kitchen was nicely equipped, and Checking in and out process easy peasy. With Carmel so very close, we had some lovely dinners out , and take out for the chill nights. Comfortable and clean house. Comfortable beds and linens, very wl stocked kitchen with nice utensils. Quiet house and restful location. Nice shops nearby, loved the local stores and restraunts. It was so peaceful there. It felt very homey and the view was amazing. I think I sat there for hours watching the waves. The girls loved exploring the trails and beach looking for treasures. They even chose that over other adventures. It was agreat stay and I was sad to go.

Perfect in so many ways
This little abode was a perfect homebase for our family of 4 with a 2 and a 3 yr old. The kitchen was very well equipped, there was laundry, easy parking, the space was cozy but enough space with the two bedrooms and two bathrooms to not feel too small. The backyard and grounds were magical; view was amazing; and the location was superb. We went down to Big Sur, over to Point Lobos, along the beach and water in both directions, and up to Monterey. Can’t rave about this place enough. It was the linchpin to our wonderful vacation. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Abalone cottage is a one of a kind experience. As close to the beach and gorgeous hiking trails as you can get in all of Carmel. Charming old school details, a cozy fireplace, incredibly private and all the amenities you could possibly need. The hosts make it super easy to check in and are highly communicative. What an amazing place! Our stay at Abalone Cottage couldn’t have been more perfect, and Sara, Pat and Mike were great hosts. Exactly as advertised, except you can’t fully capture the beauty of the setting and specialness of this place with words. Well appointed, cozy and the perfect spot to start your day with a stroll on the beach, a walk along the coast and end it watching the sunset while cozying up to a fire. We met a couple who had returned every year for over a decade, and I mean it when I say we hope to do the same ourselves - thank you for a fantastic stay!
