The hotel is old and in need of renovation, the area around the hotel is very nice, with many restaurants. I do not recommend staying in this hotel until they sort out the staffing issues. We stayed at this hotel for four days and only got housekeeping in the last day. The other days the staffing shortages were used as excuse for not providing housekeeping services, this is not acceptable as one, when booking accommodations is not informed of the lack of housekeeping services. When staying at a hotel one expects the beds to be made and the restroom to be cleaned every day. Anything else is not acceptable. Hence I recommend avoiding this hotel until the staffing situation is addressed.

Hotel is very nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. It haa multiple levels so is not as assessable as other hotels but it's nice in an older fashioned way. The rooms are large and have comfortable beds. Bathrooms are very nice. The rooms had real chairs to sit in and a nice amount of rooms. No views but we are in the suburbs. Bedskirts were a little shabby and you will only get maid service if you ask which is fine for a few days stay. Very easy walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, and other shops like the Book Table. Oak Park is a nice place with real families, diversity and is a lovely park/garden filled place Very close to Frank Lloyd Wright home and office as well as all his houses on Forrest Avenue. The Unity Temple is very close. Nice people who said hello and smiled. Hotel does not have a laundry but the one around the corner was in great shape. They even have a wash and fold if you have other things to do

Overall, it is a very nice hotel. It's like stepping back in time. Very beautiful vintage decor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room my wife and I had was very clean. There are two restaurants on the property, with many more to choose from well within walking distance. There's easy access to the train station to go downtown if you'd like. There are a few lots available for parking, which is free. The only problem was the vending machine down the hall from my room wasn't working. There was a refrigerator in the room, so I put some sodas in it for the remainder of my stay. (No biggie) I'd definitely stay here again whenever I'm in the Chicago area.

Our room wasn’t ready until 4 (check-in is at 3), but overall the room was comfortable. There was only one out of 4 vending machines “working” but when we tried to purchase Gatorade or water, the only thing that was dispensed were diet Pepsis. No other options in the area to get water and the bar/restaurants were closed.
