“Easy to find and easy to park. Lovely helpful staff. This is a huge pub with a night access door which saves having to keep going through the pub. Plenty of outside tables. Comfortable clean room, but no air con. Everything you need with enough plugs including by the bed. The quilt was very heavy and the room was very warm, so it would be good to have a choice of bedding. Our room was at the front on the first floor and was quite noisy. “Hannah and Kendal were extremely helpful to us when confused with booking, Hannah rearranged everything to suit our needs, thank you Hannah. Everything from start to finish was really great and made our diamond anniversary break even more special for us. Even the weather was good so we could go out and about with no problem. “I wasn't provided with check in instructions, so when I arrived I felt a bit lost. I asked inside Greggs and Subway, they informed me that I had to go to the petrol station to collect my room key, it was smooth from there. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom needed a little TLC, cracks on the bath, ceiling, marks on the floor. Had free WiFi, TV, and tea / coffee facilities. Bed was comfy and clean. Good value for money. Would stay again as very convenient for short trip”

“Lovely old building, beautifully clean and comfortable. Steve and Fiona were very welcoming and kind. Also, they cooked a mean breakfast from a varied menu. It was delicious. The only downside was the lack of parking outside The Bakehouse. It proved to be very difficult but the upside was that approx 60 yards away was a Car Park for only £3.30 for 24 hours! Highly recommend The Bakehouse if you are planning a visit to East Devon.”

“We needed somewhere to stay with our dog and this limits your choices. However, the Golden Fleece was very clean, good supply of refreshments in the room, shower was powerful and hot water plentiful. They even supplied a fan to cool the room, although it wasn't great, it shows a level of care and consideration for guests and was appreciated. The owners we met were friendly and I would definitely consider staying again if we visit the area again. Only negative is they need to remove the cobwebs……
