This is a very large and quite old hotel. The room we stayed in was large and pleasant but the hotel's plumbing was loud enough to disturb our sleep, as were the footsteps of the people in the room above.
The WiFi in the room was inadequate and kept cutting out. I had to use the public areas to work.
We booked the hotel because it had an outdoor pool, only to find that it was out-of-service during our stay. Whilst this might have been unavoidable, the staff weren't particularly concerned about our disappointment.
The staff seemed tired and undertrained.
Note that the hotel is located at the far end of the bay and Torquay's bars and restaurants are quite a walk away.
There is limited parking available.

All the staff were very polite and helpful. They went out of their way to be helpful.
All the rooms in the hotel were very clean.
The food was excellent. Varied and well cooked and great presentation.
Lounge was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast had lots of variety and served quickly.
It was nice having a concierge to park the car for us.
