"While this is an older hotel, the staff were amazing! We had a fantastic stay. We loved that it was quiet and the pool area was never overfull. The beach, while small, is great for snorkeling. "This is a beautiful hotel on a nice stretch of beach about 3 km from downtown Cozumel. Just don't be fooled by the cheap booking price. Once you get in the hotel, they make it very difficult to partake in any of the hotel's amenities unless you buy into the all-inclusive package. The all-inclusive package is $65/day per person for food and drinks. If you don't buy the package, it's $25 per meal and $7 per drink, but you have to prepay each time at the front desk. "My family spent 6 nights at the Explorean and had a wonderful time. Staff were kind and helpful especially the manager, Jorge, the head cook, and our favorite tour guide, Julio. The excursions were really fun, especially snorkeling at El Cielo and Punta Sur. We loved the different food options- everything was delicious. We will definitely go back to the Explorean. "
