Right now they have five elephants. Those are "rented" which means the local families still own them. They get money from the LEAF Foundation for health care and basic needs. As a tourist you can book different tours there and see/touch these great elephants. With booking a tour you support the local community as well.

"The hotel is in a beautiful area. The staff is so thoughtful and friendly. We had lovely conversation with the waitress in the restaurant both nights. When we left it was very early so the staff packed us a to go breakfast. Everything we asked for they did their best to accommodate. The room was very clean and well kept up. Not to mention that the balcony left the perfect place to enjoy the view with a glass of wine."

"I would not return here or recommend it. We had 3 nights booked but didn’t use the 2nd night as we were in the jungle (we only stored some luggage). The cleaning person didn’t give new towels or clean our bathroom, empty trash etc. while we were gone. The pool was not functioning and there are no spa services as advertised. Most of the food was not available at the restaurant for dinner. It is a ways out of town. The bed was the hardest I’ve ever encountered. I never give bad reviews but this place needs an overhaul. "
