3 Bedroom idyllic countryside cottage in the middle of rural Wiltshire

Honeybee Cottage is nestled in the lovely village of Coate, a stone’s throw from the historic market town of Devizes. It is a perfect base to explore the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty, while also benefitting from nearby amenities – it is a 5-minute walk to the nearest pub and only a 5-minute drive to the nearest supermarket. The delights of the Kennet and Avon canal, Marlborough, Bowood, Lacock, and prehistoric Avebury are all on the doorstep. Within a 25-mile radius, and making the perfect day trip, you’ll find Bath, Longleat and Stonehenge.

The space

The cottage is detached and surrounded by fields. It has its own driveway with space for 3 cars to park and an enclosed west-facing garden. There is accommodation for 6 guests and well-behaved dogs are welcome. There are three bedrooms: two double and one twin (though this can be configured as a double if preferred – please just let us know). A travel cot is available if you need one (again please just let us know). The family bathroom has a bath and shower. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped with a double oven cooker, microwave, dishwasher and American style fridge-freezer (with ice dispenser!). There is also a washer/dryer, and ironing board and iron. The sitting room has board games and books as well as a television and wood-burning stove for you to relax beside. French windows open up from the sitting room onto the west-facing patio so that you can enjoy the evening sun.

What's nearby

  • Today was our first #lksawaydays of 2020 #ukoutandabout We left Reading and headed out to the Wiltshire village of Avebury to have a walk around the Neolithic henge, visit the museum and have some lunch in the Red Lion. Its been over 20 years since the LKs last visited so were looking forward to re-visiting. There are no charges to walk amongst the stones which make up the largest megalithic stone circle in the world, but there are separate charges for the museum and the Avebury Manor. The main car park is £4 for the day but not very big considering the volume of visitors Avebury sees, so if you visit we would suggest outside peak months. The purpose of the the stone circle is unknown but its believed to be a ritual complex, the site is a sacred site to the contemporary Pagans and if you are lucky on your visit you may see Druidic rites taking place. Its a pleasant half day and if the weather is a little moody it can add to the visit too! #avebury #aveburystones #stones #stonecircle
