Listened to a night club until 4am

The hotel is in a busy district so some noise is to be expected. But how they decide what poor souls to put in room 211, I'll never know. The room is directly across from a "late bar" that stayed open until 4am when we were there on a Sunday night. You could hear the music and listen to all the conversations that happened on the street. Closing the window didn't help, as everything was still easily heard and now it was hot in the room since there was no other way to cool it.
Sleep was not to be had that night.
Additionally, the room smelled like smoke when we first arrived, and there were cigarette butts freshly extinguished on the window sills. Either housekeeping or the previous occupant had been smoking, and we could tell. Thankfully leaving the windows open all afternoon took care of most of the smell.
If not for the noise/room location, the hotel probably would have been nice. Hotel staff wasn't as friendly as we'd come to expect in Ireland, but wasn't outright rude. The location was nice and the building interesting.
