The Outlook at Heceta Beach is a fantastic 4 bedroom, 3 bath beach house right on the sand and surf that comfortably sleeps 10 people. With panoramic windows and a full deck across the length of the house, just walk out the sliding door to fabulous sights and sounds and miles of pristine beaches found nowhere else in the Great Northwest. The Outlook at Heceta Beach is one of the few vacation homes in Florence right on the beach.

For those who like to venture out, step off the deck to a gentle sand trail winding down to the beach. The one-of-a-kind coastline offers miles and miles of pristine beaches as far as the eye can see. Enjoy your morning stroll or perhaps a jog that others can only dream about.

Heceta Head Lighthouse

Situated high above the Pacific Ocean on the rugged Heceta Head outcropping is one of the most popular and inspirational sites on the Oregon Coast; and it is only about 10 scenic miles north of Florence. It is a must-see among must-sees here in Oregon’s Coastal Playground. One of the most beautiful, and most photographed lighthouses in the world.

Since March 30, 1894, from its perch 205 feet above the ocean, this 56-foot-tall working lighthouse has cast its beam more than 20 miles out to sea, making it the brightest light on the Oregon coast.

Throughout its intriguing and colorful past, the lighthouse watched over many attending families, safely guided passing personal, commercial, and military vessels, oversaw the construction of Highway 101, hosted a WWII military outpost and Lane Community College’s satellite campus, and blessed many a wedding ceremony.

The lighthouse underwent a major, and historically accurate, restoration between 2011 and 2013.

The leisurely walk to the lighthouse is a quarter-mile uphill from the inn, which itself is a quarter mile from the public parking area. There is an interpretive center and gift shop with books, souvenirs, and other themed items as you begin the walk from the inn to the lighthouse.

Heceta Head Lighthouse is 11 miles north at Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint, (formerly Devil’s Elbow State Park). Day use parking is $5 or is covered by a $35 Oregon Coast Passport permit available at state parks.

We loved this home which is directly on the dunes and beach! It was very comfortable and clean and the view cannot be beat! We’ll be back on our next trip to Florence.

Location
Overall we absolutely enjoyed our stay. The location could not be any better for a family looking for a beach getaway. We wanted some place with beach access and a view of the ocean so that even when it’s raining or storming we could enjoy the beach. This place did not disappoint. In fact, it was better than the pictures online! We had a wonderful time relaxing inside, playing games and then taking long walks looking for shells. We will absolutely stay here again! I can not however make a full recommendation to anyone who may be older or anyone with limited mobility simply due to the number of stairs. Also, this is not a quiet house. I know some of this is due to the nature of being on the coast, but there was siding coming off right outside the bedroom that continuously hit the side of the house during the night. The water pressure in the kitchen was so low it was difficult even filling the coffee pot and the back screen door just fell off the first time we went outside. The deck is rotting with a few unsafe spots that should probably get a little love. I only share this as there are some obvious things about this house that make it a little different, but we honestly had a really great stay. The house was very clean and comfortable and all maintenance issues were easily overlooked as nothing compares to its amazing view.

Great place for kids
Spectacular views. Big windows. We cleaned them mid-stay. We forgot to use the beach toys in the garage (too excited to get out to the beach). And the stairs were a big hit with the kids - they loved playing all over the stairs. That said, the stairs are not great if you are mobility impaired. Dull knives seem to be a problem with all rentals, however, someone coming from Chicago brought good knives. So, bring your own knives for the kitchen, you won't be sorry. When it looked like we would run out of dishwasher detergent, the manager was quick to supply more. We could have used more dish towels and did not think to ask (some of us are unaccustomed to paper towels). Over all, it was a nice place to stay, and the 9 of us (3 children and 6 adults) had a lot of fun.

Fantastic location and lovely house
The house was spacious and well appointed for family meals. We enjoyed the quick beach access by walking down the stairs at the end of the street. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean and well stocked, and the kitchen had everything we needed for a few days away. The bedroom with a balcony (and a mirror over the bed!) was the warmest spot in the house and that got a little uncomfortable at times. The siding trim rattles on that slider door on that room and creates a little drama during nighttime storms. Our kiddo appreciated the book selection. We enjoyed our time there!

Comfortable and great views
Overall the house & views were great. The photos do not do it justice...all 4 of us commented on how it looks nicer and brighter in person than in the photos. Beds / sheets were clean & crisp. We had everything we needed in the kitchen as far as pans & gadgets. We are planning to rent this same house again for our get-together next year. As a warning, I would say that we were not expecting as many stairs as there were and the teeny tiny "bedroom" at the very top was not really ideal, and even a little unsafe in my opinion. It basically has room for the bed (with access to just one side of the bed). There was about 3 feet of floor next to the bed before you literally have hole in the floor (that are the 4 steep steps) there is no railing one could easily step wrong in that little 3 ft space and take a tumble. I hit my head a couple of times on the vaulted ceiling above the bed...the dresser at the foot of the bed is useless because you can't even get to it due to the angle of the vault. We could not get the TV in the living room to work - we are pretty technology savvy, but it still could have been user error. The house was roomy and comfortable for all our activities and we were overall very pleased...like I said we are planning to rent it again.

Great view but needs work,.
This place has a really grreat view. There is some maintance that is need. Boards on the back deck rotted out and could be hazard. Towel rack in the bathroom is coming off the wall. I could not get the tv in the bedroom to work and no instruction. The barbq was not clean I cleaned it bebore and after using. The pepper shaker was empty. We were not to crazy about the screwed down deck chairs. Enjoyed the fire in the stove. Good access to the beach. Lots of parking. A lot of good dishes.

Wonderful Beach House
We had another amazing trip to the Oregon Coast and this house was part of that experience. The beach/ocean views cannot be beat! Plenty of space. The beds in the 2 main rooms were comfortable with ample bedding (we did not use the other bedrooms). The kitchen also was stocked with adequate dishware/cookware. There is an ice maker in the fridge. Only down mark was that the house had quite a musty odor when we arrived. I suspect the carpet may be the culprit. Overall, highly recommend!
