Missing Something

Started by not finding my reservation. Finally got a room with two double beds, I reserved a king last November. They said I could go on a waiting list if I wanted. The door wouldn't unlock, so I thought I'd pull the comforter down and lay down for a minute while waiting for maintenance. The sheets were full of black hair. We finally got a different room not overlooking the trampoline (ocean view) but still no king bed. Lines were about 20 minutes long at both bars always. Customer service was non-existant everywhere on the resort. No coffee anywhere to be found even in the room "we are out" all week I might add. Only one waste basket per room. The pool was too cold to go in. Nobody stayed in. I tried the ocean with my wetsuit on. That was warmer. The food had a good variety, but I couldn't tell what the meat was. I asked for Tabasco sauce at a couple of different restaurants and was told they didn't have any. I will say the desserts were good. The bees wouldn't let you enjoy any island drinks. The store was way too expensive! Went to the local market and found nothing interesting.

Ocean view wasn't really of ocean.

Paid extra for ocean view but it really wasn't. The location I had was good for everything else but certainly not what I expected. Others in hotel where also upset by poor ocean view from room. Otherwise everything was good. Nothing spectacular but no real problems either. Food and Drinks were also good,

Very out dated Hotel

Old dirty bedding. No professional entertainment, the hotel staff danced around to very loud music. We won't be back. Wish we had our money back though!

Good hotel on a beautiful beach!

Pros: They have a beautiful beach that you can walk for long distances in either direction. The food was good. The optional restaurants were nice.
Cons: They were quick to respond to any issues.
Location: Lucayan Straw Market
This was our 2nd time to the Wyndham Fortuna. Relaxing!

Nice resort.

Pros: Clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly.
Cons: Room lighting.
Location: No businesses are nearby.
Beach very clean and nearby. Garden and grounds well kept. Access to all activities was easily reachable from the rooms. Resort had operational problems with hot water and TV service for two days. Hotel's response to various request for room services was fair. Buffet restaurant offered an acceptable variety of food. Food was well prepared. Resort has a very nice fitness center. Resort location was off the beaten path. Nearest commercial business was approx. 5 miles away. Accessible by taxi or rental car. No public transportation is available. For the right price we would return.

Ok hotel right on the beach

Pros: The staff was friendly and very nice
Cons: Provide at-least 1 bottle of water per day in the guest rooms
My overall stay was ok, I knew this was a 3 star resort so I didn't have very high expectations, just wanted a quick getaway. However 2 things happened that I wasn't too thrilled about was 1st, I paid a little more to reserve an oceanview room, after I checked in and got to the room, the view was of the trapeze. I called down the front desk and told them I paid for an oceanview and i was looking at the trapeze. I was asked to come back to the lobby there was another room in the green building that was being cleaned and I could take a look at it once finished. While I waited I inquired about why I was assigned a room that did not compare with what I reserved. I was told that they didn't have anymore oceanview rooms with a king bed, all the ocean view rooms they had left had double beds. I did not like that I wasn't told ahead of time and wasn't asked what my preference was. I paid a significant difference in price for an oceanview. I waited abut 20mins before I was able to look at the room in the green building. It had 2 beds but a better view than the room I was initially assigned so I took it. The 2nd thing I didn't like was that they do not give out bottled water and there are no water fountains close to the rooms. around 1:30am I got really sick and dehydrated I called the front desk and they told me there should have been water in my room at check in, I told them there wasn't any when I checked in, I was told there is nothing they could do and I had to wait until morning.

Very nice beach

I paid extra for an ocean view room, however, it was looking out at the trapeze and you had to walk out to actually see the ocean. It was a little disappointing so we asked if we could get changed to a real ocean view room and after a couple of nights they were able to accommodate us and give us an ocean front room. Overall, the stay was great. Kuddos to Lorenzo for Putting together the great entertainment every single day and making sure everyone enjoyed their stay.

Great vacation- Great hotel

We loved the hotel, nice beaches, we had Great time in general, the food was amazing, and the entertainment team did an awesome job. Rooms need a face lift – specially the bathrooms- but it was clean and comfortable - did I mention that the entertainment team was just amazing 

The Staff Makes the Difference at Viva Wyndham FPO

Pros: The staff -- leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling. They love what they do and are kind with guests. They are also incredibly talented performers.
Cons: The resort needs some upgrading. Beds and sheets are or at least feel 'old.' The theme restaurants were not as good as they should have been.
Location: Location is great. Fortuna beach is close to downtown, the Lucaya marketplace and the East End national park and beaches.
The best things about this resort are [1] the location right on Fortuna Beach, which is a beautiful and tranquil white sand beach, and [2] the super staff who go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. The group of young multinational and multilingual resort directors and coordinators at Viva are really special. They do it all. They put on a nightly show including acrobatics and dance that they perform themselves with verve and enthusiasm. They also work their tails off during the day operating the resort and accommodating and entertaining guests (including teaching people how to use the on-site trapeze) and they manage to keep a smile and a good attitude through it all. The people make this place what it is. Without them, it would just be OK. The rooms are a little tired, beds a little old, sheets a little scratchy...but if you are not one who needs to be in the lap of luxury, the Viva is a fun and laid back place to really and truly relax. The essentials are not lacking though. AC worked in the room and the shower had hot water. There are no pretensions here. It is family friendly and right on the beach. I would return despite the shortcomings in terms of modernity or 'perfectness' of the accommodations. The food is decent, although I liked the buffet better than the "special" restaurants. Good variety and if you stick to the simple stuff, it's healthy and acceptable (steamed broccoli, fruits, potatoes, coffee, pastries...). Overall thumbs up.
