“Great location, fabulous views of the rolling hills and loch, together with a real sense of 'getting away from it all'. The downstairs of the cottage was cosy and adequately equipped. We particularly enjoyed the open fire that was set up ready to go, we only had to light it and there was plenty of spare wood to burn. A point for our own learning is that next time we will select somewhere that does not welcome pets as many parts of the upstairs did smell like dogs were there before us. So much so……

“We really enjoyed our stay in the Shepherds Hut and the views were amazing. The only disappointment was that there was no welcome pack providing instruction on how things worked. There was also no telephone contact details in case of any issues,etc. When we arrived there was not hot water and it was only by trial and error that we managed to find out that the gas bottle was empty, luckily the other bottle was full and I was aware how to manually change them over. “Property was tidy, simple and fairly straightforward in terms of settling in. Once we figured out the heating - no instructions - we got the place warm. An excellent wood burner really made the lounge - plus bringing in two bedside lights for ambient lighting - and was generously supplied with kindling and wood. The walks around the property and up into the woods were ideal for dog walks. The kitchen was pleasant, functional and suitably kitted out, although the fluorescent striplighting was……

“Lovely setting by the sea and nice walks around the site. The floors could do with a bit of updating and extra seating for more than 4 guests but it was clean and tidy. The attention given by the host to make your stay comfortable was excellent any issue was swiftly dealt with.”

“When I arrived, we found the property needed some upgrading, some items in the kitchen were dirty,the baking trays in the oven, one was rusty,the couch upstairs had dirt under the cushions, I asked the owner to clean it and the oven tray,but we actually clesned the kitchen ourselves. There were lighbulbs out,in the bathroom the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. The property was unkempt in general. It should have been spotlessly clean.
