A room Smelling like DEET

Pros: The location for what we needed
Cons: porte-crib should have been ready in room to put baby in. during renovations and painting - need proper ventilation of rooms to cure pre-occupancy
Location: Visiting family and friends
Arrived 10 pm - 2 rooms and asked for one with Porta Crib . 2 adults and 2 kids. in first room> Opened the door waiting to put the kiddos down, ages 9 mo and 3. The waft of DEET like smells blasted us back out the door - not a safe place for kids or adults with those odors. No porta- crib present either. Went to the second room and it was clean and better - No porta - crib either. Turns out the hotel is in reconstruction and upgrading and first room had just finished being painted that day but the room closed up - no windows open or air conditioner on to allow smells to go away. Porta-crib was brought to us for second room but we ended u staying in the first room with all the smells. Felt dizzy and lightheaded for most of the next day. Was told our third party booking company did not relay to them the need for the porte-crib. Next morning - Sunday early am - painting crews already painting in rooms by 7 am next door and access hall from us. Didn't feel like eating the breakfast - squeezy stomach. Would have liked to know the hotel was in renovation and what that would mean.

Location: Close to Joliet and the Chicago area.
Great experience here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Property is well maintained and in great condition. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. A very well managed facility. Highly recommend.

Could Not Cancel Last Two Nights of Reservation

Pros: Everything was fine except the cancellation policy.
Cons: Cancellation policy
My employer asked that I return to the home office before it was anticipated. That weekend was a Special Event on the motel schedule. They were within their policy with Expedia not to cancel; however, it was within the local manager's authority to allow the cancellation. Expedia did not inform me that this reservation could not be changed when I made the reservation. I can't afford to do business with either Wingate or Expedia.

This is my favorite hotel. The rooms are clean and the quality of service is great. The breakfast is very good.

Pros: The staff was awesome, friendly and very accommodating.
Cons: Rules in the pool area
The only problem was the little kids in the hot tube and pool splashin at 10pm at night with no regard to others.

Not as nice as before

Usually have a king size room and it's fine. This time had a handicapped accessible room with bathroom pocket door that looked dirty/needs paint wallpaper coming off around top of shower. Beds uncomfortable.

Traveler, I am sorry to hear that your recent stay was anything short of perfect. Always make sure when you book online to confirm with the hotel, at check in, your room type so that you can have the most comfortable stay. I do know that all the beds in the hotel are less then a few months old, but I apologies again if they were not to your liking. We do hope to see you again. Take care and safe travels.
