Located at the private and quiet end of Puako Beach Drive, Mango Hale offers the opportunity to experience a stay in 'Old Hawaii.' Recently renovated, these two original beach houses have all the modern comforts and conveniences, while the relaxed and tranquil community reminds you of an earlier era. Both houses now have air conditioning.

Mango Hale (four bedroom, four bath) or Mango Cottage (one bedroom, one bath, + extra full size bed, vrbo listing# 956147) are available individually for couples or small families, or both houses can be rented together to accommodate a larger group. The property is filled with mango, banana, and coconut trees surrounded by a lush manicured lawn and other tropical plants. The caretaker apartment is located on the garden level off the garage of the Hale. The owner lives here full time and is available for security and other assistance. The rental is the 2nd and 3rd story of the house and has two separate entrances.

Directly across the street is the popular beach access known as 'Paniau.' This natural bay has a small coral and sand beach and is well known for its easy access to one of the most premier snorkel and dive spots on the whole island. Paniau has great surf breaks in the winter months and offers easy shore fishing as well as excellent sunsets year round. The Puako General Store is located just minutes down the road and offers local art & gift items, groceries, and sundries.

5/5 Excellent

Perfect location, beautifully maintained property
This trip was our second stay at Mango Hale. This house is very well maintained, clean, well appointed and stocked with the basics of paper towels, TP, soaps. The linens are in excellent condition…clean, no stains. The towels provided for both bathing and beach are thick and fluffy. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots/pans…everything you need! Even a blender and coffee grinder. The lanai runs the length of the house and has very comfortable seating, a nice dining area and a Weber propane grill. We have stayed in many beach properties for over 25 years and this is the best by far. Many times beach houses are filled with odds and ends that people decide to stick at their Beachhouse. This is absolutely NOT the case with Mango Hale. Mango Hale is purposely equipped and appointed with good furniture, good linens, good equipment. It really is like being at home away from home. The location is fabulous as well. We walked across the street every evening to watch the sunset. You can see turtles every day at one of the public beach accesses on Puako Beach Road. And Scott is a great host. He is there when we need him but not obtrusive at all. We only know he’s there when we happen to need something or if he’s sharing a mango or dragon fruit with us. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing and beautiful
The house was great for our comfort. Our favorite activity was walking across the street to the ocean to snorkel and sea turtle watch!

Beautiful house and location
We just arrived home from 12 nights in Mango Hale. The more time went by, the more I loved and appreciated this beautiful house. Scott has done an amazing job on this place. You have to be ok with "country" living, a few crawling critters here and there, but I am someone who would much rather be in a natural environment than in a sterile resort. The neighborhood is quiet, there are numerous great swim spots close by, as well as the amazing north side of the Island within easy reach. Beds were comfy, lots of towels, kitchen B+ on stocking, gorgeous lanais. The wind at night was so lovely and there were beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Really a remarkable stay and I encourage people to avail themselves of this fabulous property. Mahalo, Scott. I hope to be back.

5/5 Excellent

great real Hawaii experience
loved the non-resort vibe of a real Hawaii beach road - such easy access to good a fun snorkel beach - and close to beautiful sandy public beaches too. Scott is a great - host - and the beach stuff and well equipped kitchen were awesome. beds were comfy and the towels great. Higly recommend

5/5 Excellent

Definitely coming back!
We loved our stay at this property! Plenty of space for large group! Each room has access to a lanai and own bathroom. Plenty of space for your own privacy if needs. Access to nearby beaches canʻt be beat! Lovely quiet neighborhood. In mango season, you could reach out of the window and pick your own! We will definitely book this house again!
