Steps to Beach & Avalon Pier: The Original 1950's Avalon Beach Bungalow

Hear the sound of the waves as you stroll to the beach, feel the clean ocean breeze and sway in a hammock at our Avalon Beach Bungalow. As our guest, you will sense the history of the Avalon Beach neighborhood and feel what its like to live like a local at the beach. We are steps from the ocean and the Avalon Pier. Imagine drifting away into a mellow mood with friends and family in the relaxing, cozy and chic bungalow.

Welcome to Live Swell Beach Bungalows. Here our guests refresh from reality while enjoying elements of coastal living and the laid-back surf lifestyle.

All of our boutique rentals feature:
•Linens + Bath Towels
•Professional & Attentive Guest Support
•Private Outdoor Shower
•Two Beach Cruiser Style Bicycles

We are passionate about the beach, coastal living and the opportunity to share the lifestyle we love so much with our guests.

While cozy, at just under 700 square feet, the Avalon Beach Bungalow is one of the last remaining original Bungalows in our OBX housing stock. The bungalow is in an excellent location near restaurants, shopping, and about a half block walk to the beach, Avalon Fishing Pier and most OBX activities. The place was re-designed in 2017 with an open flow to provide our guests a modern coastal living experience all while maintaining its original 1950's bungalow charm. Although, we continue to do improvements every year!

The space is ideal for:
•Couples
•Small active families or groups of friends
•4 people comfortably, 5 people if ya'll get along well

Guest Favorites:
From afternoon naps swaying in our hammocks in the front breezeway or chilling out and grilling in the backyard, here’s what our guests say they loved:
•The location - a short walk to the pier and beach
•Grilling and a well-supplied kitchen
•Swaying in the hammocks in the front breezeway
•Dog Friendly (See Guidelines Below)
•A family friendly and safe neighborhood

The kitchen features a butcher's block counter top, tile backsplash and the essential cooking tools for the chef of the group. At the right time and on the right days you can fully open up the french doors to connect the living space directly to the covered porch where you can rest and relax in the hammocks.

We have one bathroom inside - no tub - that features and a small glass-enclosed shower and a multi-use shower head. Most of our guests favorite place to shower is outside in the vintage masonry enclosed outdoor shower. This enclosure is very private and comes with a "rain shower" head that feels very refreshing on a hot summer days. In the winter months our guest can enjoy the warmth of the small wood burning stove that makes this time of year to visit more special!

Housekeeping Notes:
To us, a very clean bungalow is of the utmost importance for our guests upon arrival. In fact, our bungalows have always had very high cleanliness standards and though cleaning + inspection process. Recently, we have taken our cleaning process to the next level by implementing recommended CDC guidelines. Between each guest stay our beach bungalows are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with EPA approved disinfectants on surfaces and common touch points.

Pet Friendly Guidelines:
•$25 per night for one dog (one dog maximum only)
• Some breeds may not be permitted due to insurance requirements
• When reserving "add pet" to number of guests and fee will be added to reservation, otherwise the pet fee will be requested separately after the reservation is confirmed.

We love dogs and are happy to have your four legged family members at our bungalows. Just let us know you are bringing your dog and the breed.

Book Now as availability at the Avalon Beach Bungalow does go quick.

Guests have access to the entire home, property and shed that comes stocked with two beach cruiser style bikes, two boogie boards and two beginner foam surfboards.

Other things to note
Property & Preference Disclaimer:

We love our OBX bungalow, its a great house yet, like most older homes it is not perfect, has some quirks and is certainly not for a fit every group. Our primary objective is to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests, so we hope you understand, if a significant weather event is forecasted during a reservation there may be an impact. We have found many guest visitors to the Outer Banks consider purchasing vacation rental travel insurance as additional protection and peace of mind.

We respect that folks have different preferences and worldviews. If you're looking for a unique place and local experience in a great beach town to relax, spend time with loved ones, chill out, cook and rest your head after the beach then the bungalow checks all the boxes. If your seeking a perfect, flawless home or are super high maintenance, this is not the place for you.

Book today to ensure your reservation, before another guest does! :)

Check Out Etiquette: We put a lot of time and effort to deliver great stays for our guests. If we find deliberate damage, disrespect or lack of basic cleanliness during the check out inspection, fee's will be charged to compensate our cleaners and ensure the property is ready for guests.

Bungalow
Cute place. Easy walk to beach. Neighborhood can be a bit boisterous due to number of rentals and location so close to Avalon Pier and Awful Arthur's restaurant. Place is a bit more worn since the photo shoot, but owners have put some effort into the style. A bit light on glasses, dishes and utensils and what's there is a bit dingy. We loved the screened-in porch. It was great to be able to have the dog along and it was easy to keep the floors c

Low-key, relaxing beach vacation
Adorable beach cottage for a small family vacation. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. We had a lovely, relaxing week and would definitely recommend the Avalon Beach Bungalow -- for the hammocks on the porch alone!

Excellent place to stay for a quick getaway
The Avalon Beach Bungalow was an absolutely wonderful place to stay for our vacation. The place had a very relaxing vibe and all of the help and communication from the property managers made it even better. From the close beach access to the porch hammocks, everything about the bungalow is enjoyable. I definitely look forward to booking again in the future.

Cozy and relaxing!
My husband and I brought our 15 month old daughter and two dogs to the bungalow for our 10 year anniversary in January. It was absolutely perfect. We loved the proximity to the beach and walked over every morning. The woodstove was so cozy in the chilly winter evenings. We also enjoyed the Duck boardwalk and had a lovely anniversary dinner at a restaurant Maria recommended. We were impressed with the little touches and the sweet attention to detail. We definitely want to return! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!!

Quaint old-school bungalow....
We stayed at this sweet bungalow last week and loved it! What you see online is true to what you get. It’s small, but it was absolutely perfect for the two of us and our old man poodle. Steps to the beach. Bicycles every evening to the sound for sunsets was fun. Do NOT miss those sunsets!! They are stunning! (Cross at the light at k-mart so you don’t get run over out on the 4-lane!!) Avalon pier for an afternoon beer was fun. Posting up under the pier with camera in-hand, filming those waves come crashing thru the pilings, yielded amazing shots. Between the perfectly crashing waves and the glorious sunsets, it’ll be hard to choose which to have blown up and framed. All perfect. But it’s the way with which we were kid-glove treated that I’ll always remember. We were scheduled to go down Sept. 6th to celebrate our 40th anniversary.... just as Dorian was making landfall in the Outer Banks. Maria was in constant communication with updates, penciling us in for the first week of October as an alternate, but leaving open the week in September, as well. We ultimately chose to wait. But that she would do that — carry us on the books for two separate weeks — was what we appreciated most of all. She gave us choice, with no strings attached. I told her then, and I meant it, that even if we never got there, our dealings with her would not be forgotten. So, what you see is what you get. If you’re attracted to old-school and quirky, you’ve found the right place. Now that it’s cool, you’ll absolutely love the screened porch and hammocks. You’ll love that outdoor shower. Most of all, you’ll rest assured you’re dealing with someone who takes great pride in her brand and wants you to have nothing less than a wonderful time! We wouldn’t hesitate to rent again.... and probably will.

Fantastic Home Away from Home
Maria and Mike are perfect hosts--from the handmade soaps with our towels to the suggestions for surf lessons, kayaking, and more we had a great time away. The house is perfectly appointed, with everything we needed to fix meals when we wanted (blender, tumblers in the freezer for cold drinks, nice pots and pans for cooking, a coffee maker). The outdoor shower was a great way to end the day at the beach--and avoid tracking sand everywhere; and for quick runs into the house to grab something, the sprayer for rinsing off feet was great. I love the beach. I hate sandy floors. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the bedding very soft. For such a small space, the house easily fit the 4 of us (two teens, two parents). Walking to the beach was easy for sunrise or any time of day. My older daughter tried out the surfboard and had a blast.
