Staff not helpful.

Posted Oct 10, 2017
They lost my reservation and it took 1 1/2 hours to check in after I had to call Expedia and talk with them for an hour. The whole place needs work. The golf course was nice.

Adequate accommodations

Posted Sep 24, 2017
The hotel showed lots of pictures of the lake online but our room was in a large hotel on a hill far from the lake. I had hoped to fish a little in the morning before continuing our trip north but when I drove to the lake all I could find were signs indicating all of the areas where fishing was prohibited. The room was a one bedroom suite but the wall separating the rooms didn't extend to the ceiling. Therefore noise was not stopped between the rooms. I go to bed early and wake up early. My wife goes to bed late and gets up late. I had to keep just a quiet as if we were in one room. If one was traveling with children, the indoor pool and water park would probably be great, but we had no interest in these services. The place was adequate but didn't offer much for us.

Bob, we are sorry to hear you did not get the lakeside view you had hoped for. Our property has many buildings and many rooms. We do our best to state our variety of lodging accommodations on our website for guests to browse prior to booking. Only our lodge rooms are on the lake. We appreciate your feedback on your stay with us as it is important to the continual improvement of our resort.

The hotel is very old, but clean. The staff at the reception with the exeption of one lady was very unprofessional. Our room was not ready at 4pm. The arcade is terrible: nothing works. Most games are broken or shut down.

Sean, we are glad your kids had many activities to get them busy, and you enjoyed the scenic views surrounding our beautiful location. We have been doing upgrades in recent years, and we have some more projects planned in the future as well. We have our Split Rock Grill and Food Court Pizzeria open daily as well as our Sand Bar during the summer months. Our Lake View Tavern is also open during the weekend hours as a dining option. We appreciate your feedback on your stay with us as it is important to the continual improvement of our resort.

not what I thought

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: We had been there about 30 yrs ago. It didn't have many updates and pretty much looked the same.
Cons: Maybe pain the trim in the rooms, and do some upgrades.
Location: pretty,
I booked a room with a K bed. When I checked in the room "wasn't ready". They said they would call me when it was. I waited over an hour and went back to the deck and inquired. It was ready then. We were given a "cottage". It had a Q size bed, not what I requested, and it had a fireplace. Nice, but all I smelled was smoke. We slept there for 1 night. The next morning, I requested another room with a K bed and because of the "smoke" smell. We were give a nice room in the lodge, and had a nice time after that.

Not on the lake - outdated and understaffed

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: The Lake was nice. Our room was nice.
Cons: Tiki bar bartenders were terrible and obnoxious. Put on the A/C. Fix the bowling alley, pool tables and hot tub.
Location: We went white water rafting in Jim Thorpe, PA. That was fun. Boulder View Tavern was nice too.
We requested early check and arrived at 2:30 (Check in is 4). We didn't get into our room until after 6pm. The reason? "287 people checking out and 300 checking in." But isn't that at every hotel? There were not a lot of people checking in at 2:30.You have 2 people working the front desk and obviously not enough cleaning rooms. The lobby was very warm and musty smelling. Turn up the A/C, it's August! The gym had outdated equipment and the room with the pool tables and ping pong tables was also hot. The pool tables, cues and balls were very old. The bowling alley had 4 lanes out of service and a very long wait to play. There was no pool attendant any time we were there, so kids were going in and out of the hot tub (No one under 18 allowed in the hot tub); one kid wore his sandy water shoes in there and dirtied the water. And why were there soapy bubbles in the hot tub? It looked like a bubble bath. The lake was nice, even though we had to drive or take a shuttle there. I thought we were going to be on the lake. Worst part were the 2 obnoxious bartenders at the Tiki Bar who claimed we were intoxicated and wouldn't serve us!! We ordered a drink from them at 12:30. We were pleasant and left a nice tip, then went to the lake to swim, etc. Came back 3 hours later to have another drink, they ducked down behind the bar to confer then came up and said "we can't serve you, you are intoxicated." They said they "smelled the beer on us" - we hadn't had any beer!! They embarrassed us.

Anna, We are glad you enjoyed the lake and white water rafting! We apologize for the delay in checking in. While early check ins can be requested, they are never guaranteed. We do our best to get our guests in their rooms as quickly as possible. We have A/C running throughout our resort, but when there is an abundance of people in one area moving often as with our fitness and ping pong rooms, it can get warm in the room. We have a pool attendant stationed throughout the day as often as we can, but we also rely on our guests to follow the rules of our pool and hot tub. Our bartenders must use their sensible judgement to decide who cannot be served anymore alcohol for the safety of our guests and our resort. We appreciate your feedback as it is important to the continual improvement of our resort.

Outdated & over priced near pretty scenery.

Posted Aug 24, 2017
My hotel room was very very very outdated. Upon entering i was hit with the horrible smell of what seemed like a vat of cooking grease that you'd find in a restaurant. For some reason the hotel seems to advertize the water park as part of the stay but it is actually almost $50/pp per day. All of the restaurants and food and other excursions in the immediate area are wildly overpriced. In the hotel cafe itself it cost $15 for 2 egg sandwiches and a coffee. It was a bit crowded too. The lake was lovely and the staff was nice. Thats really about it. I would go back to visit the lake but look into different lodging. Not worth the money.

Jacqueline, we are sorry to hear your stay with us was not satisfactory. We do advertise our waterpark as an additional amenity our guests can use if they choose. It's $38 for over 42" and $33 for under 42", but guests staying with us get a 10% discount on those prices. Our restaurants, waterpark, bowling, and movie theater are competitively priced for the local market. We appreciate your feedback on your stay with us as it is important to the continual improvement of our resort.

It wasn't as I expected it to be. Place needs to be renovated and up to date. It has a moldy smell to it. It could've had more options for dining. Overall, we made the best out of our weekend when we explored the lake.

We are sorry to hear your stay did not hold up to your expectations. We have a variety of lodging buildings on our property which suite different guests' styles. Our Town Center/Galleria buildings and Willowbrook Suites are more modern, while our lodge is more rustic. We have a restaurant in both our lodge and galleria building. We currently have our Sand Bar open with a grill menu outside our lodge, and our food court/pizzeria area in our galleria. We appreciate your feedback as it is important to the continual improvement of our resort.

Advertising is deceptive

Posted Aug 22, 2017
Pros: Very little
Based on the pictures/advertising, we were expecting a small hotel on the lake, with an indoor pool, and restaurant. Instead it is a nightmarish "complex" with many buildings, and you have to drive to facilities. Our building was nowhere near the lake, and had no restaurant, pool, etc. Staff were not friendly, and the restaurant and pool (when we found them in the central complex) were poor and over-crowded. We left a day early!

We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. We have a variety of lodging buildings on our property. One is our lodge building, which is on the lake. We also have our galleria building, willowbrook suites, and westwood villas. We always advise looking on our website at our building layout prior to booking. Only our willowbrook suites and westwood villas do not have a restaurant in the immediate vicinity, put their is one within a half mile drive. We appreciate your feedback on your stay as it is important to the continual improvement of our resort.
