This place is an absolute hole!!!! Stay away at all costs and people who rated this even remotely acceptable are not being honest! It’s run down, unsafe with leaks in ceiling, mold, musty conditions that they try to mask with some deodorizer that made me sneeze nonstop. The TV was 17” at best and it didn’t work. Nasty used towel left behind and the hotel should be torn down. The service reflected the state of the hotel and it was the worst experience ever. We paid 2 nights on Expedia and left immediately and now we are trying to recover our payment. Stay away and sleep in your car or the streets before this dump!

The Pines Inn is an economical place to stay in Lake Placid. It is pretty bare-bones. The bed was a Tempurpedic so that was wonderful! Our room was on the 5th floor so we got quite the workout in the 4 days we were there as the ancient elevator may not have worked for decades :) Parking lot was convenient and always had a space despite the hotel being full.

This property was bare bones, self check-in and out. Never saw staff. I was facing road, so slightly noisy with main drag traffic. My neighbors above and below were loud, but mostly because there was no noise barrier....you could hear them breathe and every turn in the bed. Value was spot on, which was all i was looking for--i needed to make a quick and inexpensive visit and this property fit the bill for that. I needed a bed and a shower, this checked those boxes. It was a bonus that there is an on-site restaurant for dinner, and it was busy with folks both nights of my stay.

We enjoyed our stay in a grand old dame of hotels. It has character and the room was very comfortable. It had never been in my experience before to never be checked in or checked out. Your system worked but is unusual. Our main concern was the number of steps required to get into the hotel and then up to our room. We did not see anything on the web to suggest it was not accessible for those with mobility issues. My friend managed but it was a real detraction and difficult for her.

Very old, dirty, mucky and in need of updates. It used to be an amazing place. Too bad nobody is bringing it back to life. Supposedly new company promises renovations, but nothing had happened yet. Expedia description says fridge was n the room. There were no fridges anywhere, and we needed one. No staff to be found. At all. This is not pandemic anymore, you can come out.

At age 62 staying on the 2nd floor was a bit much on the legs getting up those stairs, but manageable as my knees are fine. No fridge in the room, so had to lug up my cooler along with all the luggage. wifi was strong, window air conditioner a tad loud. Good water pressure in the shower. clean and comfortable.

I liked the ability to stay for only one night. The location is good and the rates are reasonable. The building does need some maintenance and repairs but that would make rates go up most likely.

Seems like a very part time operation...Keys left in envelopes with names on it. Staff invisible when you look for them. Shower curtains absolutely filthy on inside curtain. Garbage not cleaned up from previous rental. No instructions on how to use the Roku Tv. Couldn't watch the news.

Unique hotel that has a Victorian charm about it, from the downstairs parlor with piano and dining room (as in, a dining room that belongs in a house), and the very old floral wallpaper. However, the beds are updated and comfortable, the bathroom is large and clean (but I didn't like the shampoo and soap in tiny plastic packaging), and the TV is flat screen and streams hundreds of channels and apps. We loved the huge verandah outside and the excellent wifi. There is no elevator, so if you'll have to shlep your luggage up 1-3 floors. No one was there to greet us (or bid us farewell); just an envelope with our name, but someone was vacuuming, so there is staff around somewhere. Restaurant was closed so I have no comment. Very walkable to the water and to the shops and restaurants, and the town is absolutely charming. Would stay there again due to cleanliness, cost (very low) and proximity to downtown.

I arrived at 3 for a 4pm funeral, really given the run around regarding checking in an hour early. Went to the bar to get a beer while i waited, 1 person staffing bar and tables. The room, small but clean, really a throw back in time. Checked out at 6:30am following morning, no one manning the desk.
